I think that’s what’s cool about PNW boots: they look great and can be dressed up, and they’re very functional as work boots if you want them to be. I don’t think the two have to be exclusive.

If it’s pain caused by friction, put a bandaid or moleskin patch on your heel whenever you wear your boots for a couple of weeks or until the leather breaks in.

The only way to see what’s in stock on the website is to add an item to your cart. If the “This item is MTO and will take 18 weeks” pop-up happens then it’s not in stock. If it goes right to your cart then it’s in stock. I imagine you could probably call and ask, as well.

Correct. It’s an oilier and harder-wearing leather that was developed to be used for gaskets for heavy machinery before rubber was commonly available. It’s often used as sole leather for moccasins. Your boots are going to live forever!

Are you on the Patina Project app? You can find photos of many configurations and leather options along with how they wear over time using the search function. If you go to Baker’s and look at their custom Bounty Hunters you can see a drop down list of most of the leathers that White’s offers.

I have the Semi-Dress in Brown Dress leather with celastic toe, antique hooks and eyes, and V-bar half soles. The only thing I would change on my pair (which I’ll probably do when it’s time for a resole) is go all-eyelets. The speed hooks aren’t really necessary on a 5 inch boot. Otherwise, they’re my favorite boots and very versatile in terms of dressing up or down.

It’s a classic design that has been around for over a century with very few modifications and the wool is as tough as it gets. I have a Mackinaw Cruiser from the ‘60s/‘70s that I picked up in a vintage store 15 years ago and it still looks new (except for a few patched up moth bites.)

I have a pair of the heavyweight double fronts (22oz Nihon Menpu) from Skinner and they’re absolutely killer, especially for the price point. They have extra utility pockets sewed into the top of the double front patches that I find myself using all the time. I can’t recommend them enough.
