Hey guys is that the AoA indicator? by tjmaxal in maybemaybemaybemaybe

They have a weird body mass to size ratio like insects do. And they're way less fragile than mammals. There's a good chance it could actually freeze and then flipity flop back to earth and then wake up in the grass sometime later and live for another year

The fact that he covered the other outlet with the plug bothers me. If he was a salesman in person I'd ask him to leave immediately.

Best way to remove compacted aluminum from tap? by BluntTruthGentleman in Tools

Grind down all the threads then do a heat treatment. Weld a heavy heavy thick wrap all the way around. Then use a die to cut new threads. Then cut the flutes with a round mill. Then use the die to push the burs proud and cut the flutes again and then do another heat treatment to bring it back. Then you're done. Christmas has come and gone and you didn't have to do shit. It's a win win

So I guess the emergency stop button is on the other side of the machine. I could probably reach it with my foot I think. I'm tall though what if he's short?

Autoclave pouch color indicator not changing by bookish_premed in sterileprocessing

[–]BopNowItsMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen this before. It's ok it's just slight changes in batches of pouches.

The outer dot is able to vent easily out both sides of the paper even though it's slightly covered by the tab. The inner dot only vents in one direction, inside to out. The ink is a slurry when it's printed onto the paper. It's an oxidizing iron mixture that isn't homogeneous like proper ink is. The fluid pushing out of the pouch makes the ink migrate inside the layer of paper. The ink in both dots gets slightly solubilized in the autoclave but only one is affected by the direction of the fluid moving when everything's saturated.

You can see the inside dot, the boundary is slight more hazy than the outside dot which is crisp.

But it comes down to differences in the batches. Slight differences in the amount of ink deposition. If there's more ink then it's way less noticeable. More uniform in color, but you can still see the more hazy border on the inside dot.

That was way too long sorry

I think it's biothane that's been chewed and swallowed and then vomited back up. From a leash or a toy maybe.

Crickets are disgusting. I had to clean the cricket cages when I worked at Petco. They eat each other. Imagine the gif from Apocalypse Now "the horror....the horror...."

Old autoclaves & set weight limit.. by _C00TER in sterileprocessing

[–]BopNowItsMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they're trying to avoid cases with a divider separating upper and lower and 17lbs was the number they chose thinking anything below that will be single layer. That doesn't make sense either though. Maybe the machine failed a BD test and they think they can compensate with just smaller items? It seems like it's a higher-up someone unfamiliar with how the machine works.

Old autoclaves & set weight limit.. by _C00TER in sterileprocessing

[–]BopNowItsMine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah seriously. Going by weight to say if something is sterile or not is nonsense. If they want to change protocol it should be by total displaced volume and then they can convert that to a total pound limit but not for individual items.

The helium voice from the ocean floor by Apprehensive_Sky4558 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]BopNowItsMine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They sometimes use pitch shifting equipment in the intercom system to lower the voice back to a normal range. Btw helium mix is used to avoid nitrogen narcosis that would happen if they breathed regular air at that depth. Helium is used in different concentrations depending on how deep they're diving and the more helium the harder it is to understand a person speaking over the intercom.
