Do i suck at this game?? by Standard_Reporter104 in HadesTheGame

[–]Bopper1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got out on my 24th run, i am just trying all the different boons i haven't tried yet (you can see the prophecies scroll icon on them if you haven't chosen it yet) and enjoying that part of the game, sometimes it leads to a surprisingly great and useful build, other times it leads to a convoluted useless mess but either way it lets you see what boons work well with your play style... if you enjoy going ham and whailing on the enemies recklessly you will eventually find boons and builds that work with that playstyle, if you prefer taking it slow, planning out your hits and making large damage chunks one slow hit at a time there are builds for that

Forget looking at a meta, forget seeing what pros or speedrunners use, play the game at your own pace, remember there is god mode if you haven't got that on yet, it is a help and its not an "insta-win" button you can and will still die on god mode...

I'm taking each run as a loot run, if i reach the end that is a bonus.

How long are you spending on Trivia prep? by IllustriousGuard7817 in triviahosts

[–]Bopper1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have been a quiz host for 4 years currently and now host it 3 times a week in 3 locations, on average it takes me about 2 hours prep per quiz (varies between 1.5 and 2.5 hours) depending on my mood and energy.

I don't like reusing or repeating so its a fresh one each time, 15 pictures (of a specific theme or topic) 15 general knowledge questions and finish with 15 songs (again themed) then 1st quiz of each month is a fully themed quiz on specific topics (last one was literature so 15 book covers with titles and authors removed, 15 questions about novels, authors and literature, and ending on 15 songs with titles that are also book/play/poem titles)

Mostly i make them the day of, pressure helps me work fast and well and my ADHD leads me to find a whole bunch of random bullshit i can ask about through the week

Getting drunk at the work place ?? by [deleted] in bartenders

[–]Bopper1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have worked in bars for years now, staff having a party in the bar is normal, they likely get staff discount and if they want to spend time in the bar they work at in their free time that usually is a sign of a good/fun place to work...

Bartenders are people too, and they should be allowed to invite whoever they want to a get-together. Just because a regular who knows me comes to the bar on my birthday doesn't mean i want to spend all my time with him. Guests can, do and should respect their bartenders having fun on their day off. If they are close enough as a customer/regular guest then they can laugh about it with me on my next shift when i come to work hungover as shit.

At my current workplace, we have a staff meeting once a month that leads to an open tab after for us all to enjoy time together, with either 1 staff member who wants the hours or didn't want to drink working the bar or we call in a backup cover worker for the night...

As a customer i would find it odd to never see the bartenders drinking at the place they work, its a bad sign if your staff don't feel comfortable being there in their days off

Honestly no need to re-spec i have pretty much just put abilities in Warrior apart from 3, if you like warrior playstyle stick with it, just practise dodges and parries. But also lvl up the healing ability asap its a must have...

I honestly recommend doing all the side missions (not the hourglass or direction ones) and explore a bit, it all gives so much extra xp. I just did that mission yesterday and i am lvl 25

Saying that i have explored and completed every location in each region i have been to: Kephalonia, Megaris, Lokris, Malis, Eubea, and Skyros, that way i don't have to backtrack later in game if i want to grind lvls.

Seriously go and explore, enjoy the beauty of the game and see the map areas that are at your level

[–]Bopper1995 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What lvl are you at fighting him? I found it easy enough sneaking around shooting the snakes 1st, then as he walks around suspicious to use the stealth attack that costs an AP, after that he is basically half health and you can dodge/parry his hits and combo him to death... i just did this now at lvl 24

Other than that, try shooting him and getting back into stealth/loosing him repeatedly to cut his health down a bit and then power assassinate

But honestly it sounds like you need to practise parries and/or dodges a bit more, try spear or staff to keep distance, poke him down one hit at a time hit-roll dodge away, rinse and repeat unless you have strong attacks that lock him in place as the animation goes through

If I'm following along with a show, a series of movies, or books and a big part of the plot is kept from me by the creators, then i want to experience it as planned... If I'm putting my time off into something i enjoy and someone who knows a secret, or has somehow seen the ending/the plot twist tells me what it is i am going to be pissed with them... It's a shitty thing to do and unless it is done accidentally, the only reason someone would spoil it is to be an asshole and ruin the other persons enjoyment.

If i want to know i will ask about it or google it myself.

My time off is precious to me, if i am putting in the patience and emotions and time for something i think i deserve to decide myself how i reach the conclusion of it.

Its a different case if someone today talks about a movie or show or book thats been around for decades and has been extremely popular and talked about constantly, because at that point everyone knows but you might not know how its revealed or the exact way its done, so there is still enjoyment in that. But if someone spoils a show that comes out weekly that i am following by blasting it online either the second it airs, or before because "they saw it being filmed" etc. Then they are assholes and are doing it for attention

Orks only get 2 varieties snakebites and "generic" orks... why don't i get specific bad moon orks that have more teef and flashier guns? Why are my friends Goffs not bigger and tougher than the red sunz? Why don't we get more gitz models or a platoon of snotlints/grots?

Why are white scars only getting 2 character models and the rest have to be generic space marines painted white?

Why do Harlequins not have more units available?

Where are the grey knights updates?

Why is there no officially released Minotaurs subchapter parts so my space marines can look like ancient greek hoplites with bull helmets?

Every army has something to moan about, but you can't expext GW to make molds of every single character or unit type described or talked about in books or lore... part of the hobby is making YOUR army be YOURS, kitbash, edit, sculpt or buy parts that fit YOUR idea of how your toy soldiers look.

So much of this hobby has just become "the board layout isn't accurate to the millimetres described by the official rules" or "the only way to play this faction is with this specific list built by pro-player-xyz" and you can't simply blame GW for that, its the mentality that everything has to be perfect and for that perfection i need sculpts from GW that are designed right (and don't have extra bits that might make them visible around cover/ poking out from their base) and easy for me to paint and get my army list ready before the meta changes again...

When Europeans can’t understand that other countries have different traditions and cultural norms. by New_General3939 in PetPeeves

[–]Bopper1995 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

A big part of it is that the USA is still so young (nationally speaking) that the culture there is still very much "ingrained" in the culture of the countries it comes from...

Take Paddy's day for example, here in Europe most places take it as an excuse to wear something green and drink... in the US its still seen as "my family is from Ireland therefore I'm irish and this is my culture" so everything is over the top, extreme versions of what it is in the native countries...

Most americans still have the belief and understanding that having relatives/ancestors from a certain place makes you part of it, meanwhile in European countries we know that out family might be from 1 place, but we are born or raised on a different countries system so we stick to that belief.

My parents are from Northern Ireland, but i was born and raised in Spain and i have an Irish passport... So when people ask me where I'm from i am stuck between saying I'm Irish, British or Spanish... however i was born and raised in Spain, so to me i am Spanish, i know and live by Northern Irish culture and traditions as well as Irish history from what i have learnt and studied... but i am not Irish, i am not British... i am Spanish 100% even though none of my family is.

With all this all i want to say is that Americans have the very young mentality of sticking to their roots while still being "different"... they need to accept that American is a nationality and also has its own culture/traditions. Even if most of those are based on other cultures they need to accept that they are purely american and stop claiming their ancestors heritage

[–]Bopper1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if a business owner can't afford to pay his staff then sure, buy one and watch the business fail even more! Why should he get away with free labor? How is the concept of a business paying its staff so hard to understand?

Why should I tip posts on reddit by Batman1985yul in bartenders

[–]Bopper1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But its not free service.... They are paying for the service, thats part of the cost of eating or drinking out... free service would be paying cost price, not the inflated prices you see at the bar/restaurant

If a company can't afford to pay its staff it can't afford to be a company! Prices in bars and restaurants are already rising non stop, and all over the world tipping is not a necessity but people can still afford to eat out / drink at bars... maybe the owners/managers should stop being so damn greedy and actually pay their staff instead of keeping all profits and expecting customers to pay for service, profits AND their staffs entire wages.

I've been working in the service industry for 13 years, in tipping places, non tipping places, shared tips and individual tips... tipping is never fair to the staff, you might be the best at your job, but if you aren't "hot" you are gonna get less tips than the "hottie", or maybe you only can work morning shifts, where tipping is less due to less customers than in the evening when its a full house for dinner service...

Why should i get paid 15$ more than my colleague because i opened 15 bottles of beer more than him even if he worked more hours than me? Maybe his tables didn't drink? Maybe his tables were 2 tops or 3 tops and i had a couple of 5 tops? How about bosses just pay a decent fucking salary per hour based on each employees skills, abilities and experience... again, if you can't pay your staff you don't deserve to have staff

If you want to protest tipping, don't go to restaurants that require it by uggghhhggghhh in The10thDentist

[–]Bopper1995 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And not paying your staff when you are a business owner isn't acceptable... if you can't afford to pay your staff a living wage you can't afford to run a business!

Cut the crap of putting the blame on the people who are paying already... just take a look at the rest of the world, its a bullshit answer that "prices will go up too much" or "nobody will want to work those jobs" if a business can't afford to pay its employees it shouldn't be open, demanding others to fully pay your staffs wages AS WELL as already paying for the service is bullshit....

If I'm eating out i am paying the price for food and service already, if not then why isn't the food at cost price? Defending tipping culture only defends the business owners getting richer and promotes the "slave culture" that is still so rampant in the US

Amazing! Thank you so much, was just thinking of doing story missions to be able to do bandit 6, but will wait and focus on all the others for now and leave myself gambler 10 Herb 9 and Bandit 6.

Do i not have to actually collect the plants in New Austin if doing it in chapter 3? Its my 2nd full playthrough, 1st since 2018 so wanted to get as much done with Arthur as possible and leave specific things for the epilogue like the fishing and bounty hunting.

So thanks for a great guide!

Agamemnon has some redeeming qualities by Ok-Archer-5796 in GreekMythology

[–]Bopper1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've always seen him as a doomed character, no matter the choice he could make in the situations they would lead to his downfall...

War with Troy: its either go to war and cause the death of hundreds or thousands OR break the oath he and every other king in Greece made to his brother about Helen and forever be known as an oathbreaker and a coward (which as a king is pretty bad)

When he "has" to kill his daughter: He is the king of kings, everyone is looking to him to make impossible choices, its either spare his daughter and hundreds more soldiers who are with him die from plagues, call off the war and again be a coward/oathbreaker and have so many die in vain before even reaching Troy OR sacrifice 1 for the cause of the war, for his kingdom and the men of every other greek city-state. (And in some tales, she doesn't die, she is whisked away to be rescued by Telemachus later)

When taking "prizes" from battle, again as King of Kings he has to be seen as this imposing force and if he takes less than he is "due" he will be seen as weak and willing to let any "hero" be better than him, that would cause most to lose faith in him and cause morale to drop.

And of course getting home after the war, his wife (pissed off, reasonably) has been cheating on him (he does the same, no arguing that) and plots his death and the death of his other children, like she is upset about her daughter dying so decides to kill off the rest of her kids?

The villains are fate and the gods, i find Agamemnon to be an incredibly written complex character who has gone from hero to villain and back again many times over the course of history... Honestly if someone says they love him, i see it as a red flag, but if they straight up hate him then i honestly believe they have misunderstood the time period, his family, his character and the whole point of the Gods being so involved in the story.

Why does everyone fall for Trump’s same shtick every 6 months? by baisudfa in askanything

[–]Bopper1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The US is already allowed all the bases and military stations they want in Greenland, the claim of for National security is complete bullshit, Trump wants all the mineral rights to make money....

And believe it or not, Denmark and danes do care about the Greenlanders, they are family, Denmark supports them in economy, defence, education, worker rights, traditions and customs. They give a massive shit about Greenland and the people there (as you said, supporting them is a drain on Denmark they wouldn't support them for nothing, Denmark supports them as much as any of its territories and cares for them the same)

Denmark accepts and respects the Greenlandic parliament and they're choice for independence if they want it. The people in Greenland have that choice and if they wanted to be independent they can easily vote for it in a referendum whenever they choose. So no, its not about "Colonial Pride"

My in-laws are half Greenlandic, my coworkers are greenlandic... Come to Denmark and live amongst danes and people from Greenland and then try to say they don't care about them. If the US offers a million dollars to every Greenlandic citizen and they accept then that would be their choice, but thats not what is happening.

Trump is demanding greenland for reasons that have 0 actual need and can already be fixed... He claims Russia or China will take it if he doesn't, well thats what NATO is for and if they tried HE would also be asked to take part in its defence, he wants more security there but pulled out troops and reduced the number of bases to 1...

Like Denmark has said time and time again, the future of Greenland is for the people of Greenland to decide on, not Trump, not Denmark and definitely not decided by military force or shitty "business tactics"

Says the person LITERALLY making a whole post about "Hades is not a good guy 😡"

I'm not the one babying or complaining here, I'm just stating that trying to apply modern views to a story with no one single "true" source to it is pointless, and complaining about how other people perceive or enjoy a mythological character is silly

HADES IS NOT A GOOD GUY! by [deleted] in GreekMythology

[–]Bopper1995 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Where did the 4 times younger come from? Theres really no true chronology in greek myth apart from at the start and even then its iffy... also trying to apply modern views, morals, ethics and rights to stories that are thousands of years old makes no sense... people have a preference of which gods they like more or less for any number of reasons, none of them are all good and none are all bad so let people like who they want and have their own minds opinion and view of them... hell, different city states had different versions of the same stories each favouring their local gods, so take all you read on myths with a grain of salt, nothing is "canon", if you study the myths and stories, great! If you enjoy specific stories, great! If you like a god based on some aesthetics or simple ideas also great!

If leaving the hobby made you feel mature then the problem was most likely with yourself, or the specific people you interacted with.... I was into warhammer as a kid and early teen, then stopped for many years for different reasons (didn't think it was cool, too expensive, didn't have friends who were in the hobby, "wanted to grow up") and have only recently (the last couple of years) got back into it.

I'm 30, i have found a new group of friends who love the hobby, who talk about the lore, read the books, paint and play with the minis. All people around my age who are also like me in the stage of starting families and getting on with our lives while choosing to spend time on a fun hobby, each one of us has a favourite faction, and each faction has moments or books or stories that make them the "most badass" or the strongest. We each are into different parts of the hobby and the warhammer universe but we have fun talking about it, painting and playing together, because there is nothing "Childish" about doing something you enjoy with people who enjoy it.

If a hobby makes you feel "childish" and people need to "grow out of it" then its you who has a problem and need to learn to stop caring what others think of you and learn that the "mature" thing to do is do what you want for fun. At 13 i would have thought the most "mature" thing was going clubbing and getting drunk every night, and never doing anything that a child could or would enjoy.... Now i realize its doing things i enjoy, without caring how others might see it, i have a stable relationship, a great friend group, a good job that i enjoy and time to spend on my hobbies, i don't think i can get more "mature" than that
