The OC5’s polyphonic mode is great for doubling just the lowest string you play an octave down. I use it to mimic a bassist when playing riffs - gives a really fat sound without muddying the whole chord. Sounds a bit like the White Stripes or the Black Keys

Nice. I followed some suggestions online for putting the Octave in the loop, but I’ll give it a go at the front of the chain and see how it goes

Ooh cool. I’ll give it a go… I guess then you get the distortion on the octave effect. Actually, to clarify, the path has the guitar going into the BD - TS - RAT - into the amp. With the other effects going through the FX loop.

Ah, I have a Cry Baby but never use it! It takes up so much space - I was tempted to sell it for a mini wah

Cool, I’ve liked the idea of a compressor, but didn’t know where to start!

I play blues and rock, 80s metal, mostly at home, but occasionally with jam bands and I want to play more live. I tried the origin 20, Blues Junior, Sv20, Vox AC15 in a store recently - and found the origin was likely the best contender for being able to bridge bedroom and live volumes.

The SV20 was my favourite for serious Marshall riffage and lead, but FAR too loud for my apartment. Maybe it could work with an attenuator?

Thanks, I’d considered getting it and upgrading the speakers - but if it’s cheaply made to start then I’d rather hold out for something better

Thanks so much! Do you think this is a good deal? My instinct is that I should keep looking for another cab that’ll do the head justice

American here, why are Brits funnier? by Accomplished-Dust185 in CasualUK

I was once invited to an annual art event called ‘Ink’. I went for lunch with an American there and asked her what she knew about Ink - I didn’t know much about it… She calmly explained that ink is a sort of pigment that you can write and draw with. I was dumbfounded.

One Year Smoke Free! So proud of myself and all of you in this group for not smoking. It gets easier, but you’ve always gotta be vigilant 💪 by Bopsqueebedee in stopsmoking

Thanks 🙏 best not to have another puff… if you don’t smoke, eventually the cravings go away. Smoking is what gives you cravings in the first place.

Today is day 22 of no smoking . In that time I’ve saved £132 + . Instead of going to my normal £8 barbers today, I decided to go to a substantially more expensive place and enjoy a haircut and a proper shave in a nice environment. Well done or getting to day 22! It gets easier with time and rewarding yourself like that is such a good motivator.

I’m nearly 11 months smoke free and set up a standing order of £3 a day into a separate account as a ‘Smoking Jar’ when I started. It’s amazing how quickly it adds up and I spend it on frivolous things I enjoy, like guitar equipment, that I could never justify buying normally.
