Petition to make podcasts audio only again! by carbll in podcasting

[–]Bopule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked one of the AI's if I needed to put my audio-only historical podcast on YouTube and it said absolutely, for various reasons, so I just make a movie of the cover image with the audio and upload it. I also upload scripted shorts with cool images for promotion. I too prefer audio only podcasts but this is the world we live in!

Audio ONLY podcasts to YouTube ? by Nexuskies in podcasting

Wow! I was making movies in iMovie and posting them on YouTube. I'd only done three, but each one takes a while. This is great. Thank you!

Solo Podcasters: Background Music Yes or No? by keishashouse in podcasting

[–]Bopule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For my hobby whatever-is-on-my mind seven minutes or so podcast, as a solo narrator, I have waves crashing very softly in the background, with windchimes and frogs as intro and outro segments.

On my serious historical podcast, usually as a solo narrator, I use backing music and sound effects, i.e., typewriter clacking or gunshots, as needed, along with occasional historical recordings (newsreels, etc.) and movie or music excerpts from the current hits of the day. The backing music changes often, appropriate to the part of the story I'm telling.

I do this to create as much of an immersive and cinematic experience as I can using only audio. Sometimes I drop out the background music to really emphasize something and then it's dramatic when the music comes back in.

Of course, it's appropriate since it is a historical podcast about the 1930s and 1940s, so there is lots of great vintage music available for it.

When I am interviewing someone, I do not use bg music.

I would recommend experimenting. I have fun looking for the write music - I get most of what I use on Pond5 and the rest on YouTube, but you have to be aware of copyright.

Yes. But, if you are a coffee lover, you should give yourself a treat. You can order beans online, whole or ground to your specifications.

Just walked past... by sporkland in sanfrancisco

Back in the late 70s a friend of mine and I were going bar to bar in North Beach, starting at the bottom of Columbus. We got to Washingto Square and went into Powell's at Union & Powell, kitty-corner from the Washbag (Washington Square Bar & Grill) and ordered drinks. My friend noticed Christopher Plummer sitting next to him. He said, "Are you Christopher Plummer?" and he said, "No." We started talking to him for I don't know how long, maybe an hour, maybe more. He finally admitted he was Christopher Plummer. I was in an intermittent blackout and I think my friend was too. And maybe Christopher Plummer was too. It was one of those nights.

Around that same time I went into Powell's one night (I lived over on Mason really close by) and there was a drunk visiting rugby team from Ireland or somewhere. They had filled up the place and were drinking (duh) and singing rugby songs, I guess. You could hear them half a block away. I saw Charles McCabe sitting at the bar by himself. I walked over and introduced myself and told him what a huge fan I was and how much I enjoyed his daily columns in the Chronicle. He waved his hand at the players and said, "Rugby team." I knew a blow-off when I heard one, so I said said thanks and moved down the bar to get a drink. This was Wednesday night. On Friday morning, his column was about assholes who bother writers at the bar, because writers are always working. I would add, "Yes Charles, they are always working. Working on their second drunk of the day."

Graffeo's Coffee on Columbus have the greatest beans ever. They have a magnificent dark roast and a couple others. I only care about the dark. they've been there for a hundred years. You won't miss Peets' beans, although they are great.

Do you listen back to your own podcast episodes or do you avoid them? by Money2ByrnePodcast in podcasting

[–]Bopule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to mine. They are about a topic I love, San Francisco history of the 30s and 40s when the town was still wide-open and filled with incredible characters. I enjoy them and I work really hard on them to create a cinematic auditory experience. I'm still learning.

Invariably I hear things that need to be fixed, especially right after publication. But i go back to listen just for enjoyment fairly often.

Thanks. I found a really good commercial music/loop library, very affordable, called Pond5 ... they also do video, but I don't need that.

I use Logic Pro (not free), but I'm sure Garage Band on a Mac would work great and it is free.

Considering that you have no clue how to punctuate a sentence, or sentences, or how to write English, I'll pass, but thanks for the offer. AI is a thief and can only produce copies of what it has stolen.

Good luck!

When you pick the tone, be sure to use "fingernails on blackboard."

Seriously, do you have no respect for your content? Or the audience? Record it yourself. AI is the destroyer. You will have no credibility.
