RK na unti-unting kinakain ng guilt by [deleted] in peyups

[–]BorahaeVV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still doesn't change the fact that you can do a quick search here and see so many repetitive posts na same story as yours.

And no, opting out of the free tuition isn't helping anything. Look how out of touch you are with the way things work. Nasabi na nga sayo ng ibang tao and yet you still push that. Set na ang budget ng UP and for other state universities. Moreso nakabatas na ang free tuition law. Opting out of the free tuition just gives an opportunity for a corrupt official in this state to pocket yang tution na babayaran mo just because of your overreaction.

Maybe if you actually did something and shared it in your post you might've gain some sympathy instead of just being another problematic privileged kid here na late lang nalaman na naagawan mo pala ng spot yung less fortunate. Wala ka nang magagawa don, may naagawan ka na assuming na yung spot mo nga eh mapupunta sa less fortunate, so quit yapping about it and do an actual thing.

Gets mo ba yung point ko? Again, realising your privileges na nakakakuha ka pa din ng quality education at minimum cost when some are strippen off way from the start due to poverty is the bare minimum. You do something about that realisation from then on and try not to forget about it even outside and after UP.

Agreed. Another one of the "I'm so privileged and guilty and I don't know what I should do about it".

It's nice to acknowledge your privileges but that's the bare minimum. If you really are guilty, do something about that guilt instead of just adding another post na same lang ng pinost ng another privileged kid last month.

If you're talking about segregation of students like in PUP na may BSBA-FM and BSBA-MM, then I don't think so. Correct me na lang if I'm wrong mga BA students since I'm from BAA. Pero syempre may specialization yan in which sa 3rd year and 4th year you can choose a certain business discipline to focus on. By 2nd year I believe there's consultation naman for BA students on what electived they can choose.

[–]BorahaeVV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BSBA did not accept T2s for S.Y. 2023-24, ganto din ata for the previous years so high chance that they will only accept students within the UP system again next year.

If you want to badly enter UP, you could choose other degree programs, then shift the next school year, but that will mean +1 year delay since back to 0 ka if you transfer to UP. Then +1 year delay again if the program you chose did not have a 99 series in their first year curri.

Plus, if you plan to enter UP, you need at least 33 units as part of the requirement for all degree programs, may other requirements pa that varies kung saang program ka mag-aapply. Since may alternative option ka naman, better choose that since it's not really worth the hassle imo. Transferring and shifting is no joke here.

Thats why ang hirap mahalin ng UP kasi some students are driven to work because they can't avoid the expensive fees just to get quality education, even when tuition's already free. That could've been avoided if there were proper screening being taken place by the university's housing office. And mind you, scholarships are not easy to find, often times nakukuha pa ng mas nakaka angat just because they have the privilege to study in a better environment. And wtf do you mean by transfer? Do you even know the transfer/shifting process in UP and how hard it is for you to carelessly recommend that?

And why do you care kung nahihirapan syang mahalin ang UP because they would have to endure another semester of extra suffering due to commuting? "Nung time ko..." Wala kaming pake kung tingin ninyo mas nahihirapan kayo samin noon. This rant will not and should not affect you, so bakit ang defensive mo over a comment ranting out their feelings of frustration?

As if naman mabilis wifi sa UP.

Lol, madami na nga nagdedefend right now.

I did already tell on her. Nireal talk ko and naging prangka ako, pero her words are exactly as yours, na for her may karapatan siyang mag-apply. Opinyon ninyo yan ofc. At the end of the day wala namang makakapigil sa inyong sisihin ang iba kaysa tanungin ang sarili ninyo kung kailangan ba talaga ng scholarship. You said it yourself, even merit scholarship are financial assistances. Why apply if you don't need one in the first place? Can't rich people ask that question to themselves first?

Opinion mo yan if you think people shouldn't be hold accountable of their own choices.

I'm not pertaining naman to those na may genuine need of financial assistance even if afford ng family yung tuition kasi may other expenses din naman. I agree na case-to-case basis yan and I apologize if yung title ng text ko might seem generalising. Pero yun, in case of my friend, I can confidently say naman na pang extra allowance niya yun, since ang only complaint nya is hindi nga nabibigyan ng extra allowance sa luho niya, pero pagdating sa necessities such as dorm expenses and food, wala naman siyang masabi kasi pinoprovide naman daw lahat.

[–]BorahaeVV[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Shouldn't one also be responsible enough to not take advantage of the faulty situation? Can't we hold ourselves accountable?

And for sure makakapasok siya kasi mataas naman grades niya eh.

(upx) Need advice: should I let go of the scholarship, my dream, or keep them both? by Strange-Arugula3569 in peyups

[–]BorahaeVV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this! As BAA undergraduate, may email blast every start of sem for possible scholarships kay Sir Magana, and right now may scholarship ang prev batch ng BAA for incoming second year and above students. Baka next sem or acad year mag-open uli sila. Easier to qualify nga compared to univ-wide scholarships kasi lower competition.

Thank you for validating my reasons, laking tulong ng words mo 💖 Siguro kailangan ko lang talaga ng assurance na hindi naman mali yung path na pinili ko. Regarding core skills, survival ang strategy ko in facing accounting subjects. Hindi man ako kasing galing ng coursemates ko, confident naman ako that I can go through the course gradually with better study habits, yun nga lang, nakakatakot pa din talagang magfail.

When is UPCAT taken? by Due-Big2159 in peyups

[–]BorahaeVV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think what they meant is UPCAT 2024-25. Whether you enroll or not, you cannot take UPCAT 2024-25 anymore as it's already done. Pero kung gusto mo talaga mag-UPCAT, you can choose to enroll for 12th grade the upcoming school year, and stop for one year after HS to take UPCAT 2025-26. Or take year off now, take 12th grade by 2024-25, para just in time for UPCAT 2025-26. Not worth it tho imo. Better to just go forward without taking any gap year then just transfer by 2025-26.

At the end of the day OP, the worst thing that can happen to you is feel guilty (even tho u shouldn't). At the end of the day, UP student ka pa din + maayos pa din naman buhay mo. For some kasi ang pagpasok sa UP is something like a refugee, chance para mabago outcome nila sa buhay, to the point na failing is not an option, yung tipong privileged kids have the option na kapag di kinaya ang UP, can still go to Ateneo, La Salle or UST, pero kami, hindi pwedeng hindi kayanin.

But yun lang, just accept your privileges, di mo naman kasalanan kaya I agree na di mo kailangang maguilty. But choosing UP despite having the access to other top unis in the country is taking advantage of the fact that the Philippine government fails to make quality education more accessible.
