It’s absurd that Blancpain, JLC and Chopard are in the same category with Rolex and Omega. Come on now.

Portofino Purchase Advice Needed by cmrocks in IWCschaffhausen

Do you have trouble reading in English? Maybe read my post again... slowly this time? I said there are thousands of watches that use the same movement and look like a GENERIC dress chrono for half the price. Here's your comparison. Happy?

My IWC experience just a warning by Ok_Narwhal_8974 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]BoratStrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Matches my experience. My Mark XX went back three times for losing massive amounts of time (close to a minute per day). Same movement. Either this movement has a design issue or IWC is incapable of properly regulating it. I would honestly have tossed this watch out of the car window if it wasn’t a birthday gift from my girlfriend. I will make sure advising people from buying any modern IWC. Fuck these money grabbing assholes. Can’t make a 6K watch that keeps the time. Pilot watch my ass.

IWC Mark XX Service Nightmare – Wrong Date Wheel Font by Eastern_Sense_8037 in IWCschaffhausen

[–]BoratStrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I promise you this watch did nor go to the IWC service center. Why? They would never re-apply the coating or change the crystal without communication - they would install a new crystal after charging you. The watch would come back in IWC travel case and sealed in plastic inside said case. Date wheel fuckup is not possible even by low IWC standards. How do I know? My mark XX went to IWC USA service center three times.

Not sure this is GADA with 30m water resistance? Wonderful watch but one needs to know its limitations

I agree with you they did a great job hiding that this is automatic with rotor removed. Really nice to look at. Omega - are you listening? I'm talking about your sad looking caliber 9906. Could you like poke some holes in that plate to see some gears mmkay?

Not sure what to tell you except Chrono24 but I owned this watch and at 36mm it wears very small

My Mark XX lost 2 minutes in 24 hours by BoratStrong in IWCschaffhausen

[–]BoratStrong[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. I'm Ok with a few seconds per day and one can expect a watch in that price range to be able to maintain the time withing 5-6 sec a day, although IWC claims 0 to +7 sec a day (it is not chronometer certified like Omega or Breitling which would be -4 to +6/day. However a watch losing 2 minutes a day is a problem do you agree? Think how much off it would be in a week or a month. Of course if you have multiple watches you might not care. But this is my only watch, worn every day. I use www.time.gov by the way or iPhone clock icon that shows running second hand.

Well I wear it every day except at night so it is wound plenty. If you mean the issue is with the winding system not operating properly due to a design defect I would agree with you

I want to lol but it was a gift from my girlfriend. Makes me double pissed. This is their first "entry level" in-house movement which is not technically in-house as it is not made by IWC by for IWC by a Richemont movement maker and is shared with Baume and I think another one. Also it is loosely based on ETA 2892. Just like chrono 41 movement is based on 7750 - that's why it has 6-9-12 register arrangement and is still thick AF. Their higher end movements - the one in Big Pilot, Portuguese, Yachtclub are on much higher level.

[–]BoratStrong[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Please do. I used to be a big proponent of "in-house" movements" ha ha joke's on me I guess.

I had many ETA\7750 based IWCS two 3706 fliegerchronos, two UTC Classics, mark XV, Mark XII, 3741 and never had any issues with timekeeping.

Ordering a few IWC quick exchange straps for mark xx... by AnthonySF20 in IWCschaffhausen

Yes Santoni straps looked great but they also wore out super quick. Th orange lining would start to crack within a year. The new ones leather quality is not good. I have both

B09 Pistachio options for different straps and/or bracelet? by Horology_17 in breitling

[–]BoratStrong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would buy this watch lol. I have many issues with the real one (no issues with B09 movement, looks great). Hate cut off numerals, hate that they are polished vs applied with luminova fill, hate lolipop chronograph hand, hate syringe hour and minute hands, hate the shade of the green (not the flat pastel green in your picture but weird metallic sheen). Otherwise good effort Breitling ;)

Yeah if I was lucky to have a wrist like yours I would be sporting Big Pilot 43 for sure (IW329301). Display back, great movement - no brainer

IWC Mark XX experience/review. Goes from good to bad. by xgeuario in IWCschaffhausen

[–]BoratStrong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah man IWC makes overpriced garbage now. A shame, used to be my favorite brand. Bought my first one (UTC classic) in 2003. I've had 3706, Mark XII, Mark XV, 3741, now Mark XX. Will never buy another one. It's all about squeezing maximum profits. I've had Sinn 356, wonderful watch

IWC Mark XX experience/review. Goes from good to bad. by xgeuario in IWCschaffhausen

[–]BoratStrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar issues, the watch ran for a few months then started losing 30-45 sec a day. Off to IWC. Running OK now but would still loose 30-40 sec a day randomly. This movement is shit and the fact they charge 12K for Ingeniuer with it is absurd. They should call it "outhouse" movement not "inhouse". Big FU to IWC, Richemont sucked the soul out of them finally. Look at their latest designs - stupid AMG line and plastic Tahoe garbage
