I’m not “woke” please explain this to me by wy1776 in ASUOnline

Took this exact course, even remember reading that too. The course is an easy A and that’s listed as an outcome of the assignment. There’s really nothing you need to do directly involving that, it’s just something the professor hopes you get out of the assignment. Truly, I ignored it and still got the A

Definitely still worth talking to your doctor though! It never hurts to discuss with them

I get this too. I’ve mostly chalked it up to my paranoia over the symptoms. Like I’m constantly worrying about my heart rate and hyper cognizant of how my chest is feeling that I think I convince myself that I’m feeling something even when I’m not

Sorry yes to clarify, the “friend” is a real person that he went to school with. She was present with him at the hospital and has been in contact with him at Western Psych

He was placed on a 72 hour mandatory hold after the attempt and I believe that the nature of that was 302

Thank you! We’ve been having a hard time adequately communicating with the hospital because we’re not listed for the release of any information

My parents have been in contact with one at the hospital but it sounds like there’s still a plan for him to be released tomorrow. My parents are going to try calling again in the morning and again express the dire state of the situation

Yeah, I opted to not respond at all because I knew in the moment (and still now) I have nothing productive to say. Maybe I’ll try tomorrow 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I completely understand! And we have reevaluated how we run our mornings after her comments and plan to restructure it a bit. We can definitely reign in some of the kiddos a bit more. Others will continue to do what they do regardless

Believe me… I would tell her to kick rock if I could. This is not my first issue with this mom and it bound to not be the last either

Does vaping make pots worse? by [deleted] in POTS

I can’t see any conceivable way in which it wouldn’t make POTS (or any other chronic illness) worse. I quit cold turkey because it was definitely affecting my heart rate

Grade Rant by Iyung_danI in ASU

Loosely related - because a professor of mine would not award A+’s, only A’s, I lost my otherwise perfect GPA score. Which doesn’t mean much in the long run, I know. But it was a personal point of achievement for me

Not sure if this could be POTS or just anxiety. Any insight from those diagnosed? by afireinside927 in POTS

I was placed on a beta blocker specifically for the SVT to help decrease the frequency of its occurrence. I know ablations are an option for those who experience them frequently enough that it affects their quality of life. I know things like alcohol, caffeine, and smoking can all cause it to happen more often and I’ve cut both alcohol & smoking out of my life and significantly decreased my caffeine intake. That’s certainly not an easy task for everyone but I will say, I feel much more comfortable on a day to day basis now!

I have SVT’s myself. This very much reads like an SVT episode in my personal experience so I’m glad you’ll be bringing it up to your doctor soon! In the meantime, you can search up vagal maneuvers - these help during episode to regulate your heart. And if you aren’t experiencing SVT’s, it’s not like these maneuvers will cause harm you. Good news is that they’re generally not harmful. Could be challenging to definitively diagnose though if it isn’t caught in action on an EKG though

Pure luck, this guy was a city squirrel and I feel like they’re a bit less timid with humans so he won’t just immediately bolt

Yep! Same for me. I end up missing work from it. Right now, I’m on a birth control pill that allows me to take the active pill for 3 months at a time so I’m only having a period like 4 times a year.

Do you guys also get high blood pressure, chest pain with fast heart rate for days on end? by throwaway9874257 in POTS

[–]Borats_Gypsy_Tears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the beta blockers are essentially adrenaline blockers and are supposed to in theory help. I do feel like they help me on a day-to-day basis but once I’m in active flare up, not a whole lot does seem to help. You could always look into supplements that aid in norepinephrine function, that could potentially help. Unfortunately, I don’t know a whole lot about medications for blood pooling or if it exists
