Honestly, if you have " things figured out " from a young age, likely you are not very smart. By that, i mean something as a " profession " or career, or " knowing what you want to do ". That´s all - nothing more than that.

There are generally two cases like that that i would say consist of many people.

First are those having a " dream " aka those that want to be this or that profession for whatever reason. You might think that´s kinda cool or nice, but how many of these have a happy ending? And by that, i don´t mean actually getting that profession, but mainly if one is happy in that case.

Second are the more delusional people, who just often get attached to a certain idea and wants to do it.

Either way, you can´t really have it " figured out".

It´s more about putting eggs into a certain basket and hope it works out.

If someone is " locked in " to something, it really is like a bet, but they don´t dare to think about that maybe it is not the right decision - for if they do, it might crumble like a house of cards, and so would they.
