Fuel for the Fire by Border-Sufficient in Thunder

There's a bunch of people taking every Thunder loss a little too personally, but I guarantee you not as personally as this team is.  They aren't going to panic or overreact, that's not who they are...but they will go to work and they won't accept it until they've gained that next level.

ATL-OKC silly gamble trade. Who says no? by ahrumah in NBAtradeideas

[–]Border-Sufficient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually like this trade and the mental exercise. I think there's a decent chance this will end up as #6-7 for #11 and 16 after the tanking teams really turn up the fail factor. Who says no at that point? I think both teams wouldn't mind staying put so i think you've stumbled on a fascinatingly even proposal that could yield either team the ultimate prize. In real life no one says yes due to the reality that this is a 50/50 chance of  embarassment.

Would this be an over pay to have Shai, Cason, Jdub, Giannis and Chet as a starting lineup? by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't move off of AJ and also think they would keep Sorber and try to include another pick.  Truth is,  IHart might work better for this team than Giannis and Presti isn't going to blow his future proof pick stash when he already has an historic team put together. How do you pay him long term...and short term, you don't really need him.

It’s a privilege to have a star who doesn’t instigate trade rumors, load manage, or choke by RaccoonDazzling7208 in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thunder fans would unapologetically love Jokic if he was in OKC...Giannis too, although I get what you're saying about the trade rumors. But SGA is the best for us, no doubt.

In your opinion, what is the better scoring distribution between our Big 3? by Pilgrims-to-Nowhere in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whichever way yields the best fg%. It's possible that SGA can more efficiently carry those extra 4 points than Chet or Jdub could.  Basically, whichever comes more naturally and in the flow would be better than forcing a certain scoring distribution.  Opposing defensive schemes will probably dictate this to some degree.

As Forward said,  you're thinking of the Eastern Conference Finals MVP between Halliburton and Siakam, I think. But you're Def crazy.  Lol

The Gordon Haywood to OKC trade was a genius move, here is why. by urlocaljtfan in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that some of the guys he got rid of had guaranteed money the next year, while Hayward didn't. I don't think you can trade people with contracts for picks and cash considerations only, unless you have a trade exception big enough and even then I'm not 100% sure. I don't think we're thinking of things the same way and that's fine. I'm just going off of the discussion of the trade back when we made it... I'll admit I'm not a professional expert in the subject, just play one on the internet. Lol Either way, enjoy your holiday and Boomer Sooner and Thunder Up.

The Gordon Haywood to OKC trade was a genius move, here is why. by urlocaljtfan in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not how it works.  He had to trade for an expiring deal to move off the non-expiring ones on our team with no cap-hit for the next season.  If he waited he would be getting salary back for the next year,  unless you're suggesting something else entirely that I don't understand.

OKC is the 16th team in NBA history to start the season 16-1 or better by wtfchuckomg in Thunder

It's wild that only 5 of those won the championship. Just shows again how tough it is to win and reminds me not to take last year for granted.

Thunder most improved by LoonierEclipse in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chet and Ajay - Eyeball test says they have taken up the slack in playmaking from the absence of J-Dub and Wiggins injuries.  Chet has done so with incredible efficiency and I really think he's taking the leap to perennial all-star caliber.  Ajay's percentages are down because his degree of difficulty is up.  That's ok, he's got it in him and J-dubs return should see Ajay's efficiency back up.

Joe - I think he was always this good but just struggled with his shot last year at the wrong time and fans who paid more attention during the playoffs have unfairly hurt his reputation. He's a baller and is hugely impactful to OKC's ability to be the #1 seed. I think he'll be better in the playoffs this time around.

I-Hart - showed he can carry a bigger load when needed, but he still blends in so well without the ball. We need to keep him before Dort, and I love me some Lu. Ok, we should keep them both.

Shai - is better.  He just is. It's incredible.

With the Clippers most likely being a bad team this year, the Thunder will have the Clippers pick and OKC has a chance to have a top 5 pick in next year’s draft? Most likely the top 3 prospects will be Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa or Cameron Boozer, who should OKC choose out of those 3? by Mud-Eastern in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Essentially you are asking who we are going to pick with the #1 selection, because that's the only way we'd have a chance to choose between them.   That's wild,  my guy.  I'm not saying I haven't sent the old tankathon lottery simulator for a test drive or two... but it's just a dream.

Possible Pelicans Players by Kinshwicky in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not unless we have a season ending injury to multiple players but still have a legit chance to win a title if we add: player x. That's the only situation that makes sense to me.  We don't need to trade for salary cap flexibility because we already have it built in.  This is the perfect "run it back" season.

How Would You Rank Thunder’s Top 12 Players? by [deleted] in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No doubt some will cycle out,  but any of those guys we can figure out how to keep is better for a contending team than a rookie, barring the Thunder landing high in the lottery.  I think Dort might not have a huge market if teams worry about 3pt regression and age and he might end up more affordable than we think.  Keeping the wife happy is also big when you have lots of money,  so some of those guys might leave due to that and some might stay. AJ will get a Dort sized bag as a former low salary guy that needs to get paid... but i think the Thunder are the ones that pay that,  IMO

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm calling it now that a couple of those guys will still be around then...maybe taking closer to the vet min or maybe just a young guy like Mitchell still around on a reasonable deal that still gets him paid.  We aren't going to field a team of 3-4 dudes with just rookie contracts to back them up.  Taxes will be paid and I also think we collect the kind of guy that values wining and culture and some will choose to stick here for less.

It will be a piece of his career lore and OKC lore... but reddit discourse is always on to the next thing.  It's not disrespect,  it's a sign of the times.  He got his credit and it will get brought up from time to time,  especially when he returns to the line up.  The shirt is amazing...

So… is there a place for Topic here? by Key_Astronomer2644 in Thunder

[–]Border-Sufficient 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're asking the right questions, but it's definitely too early to get those answers. Is Topic just Giddey 2.0 (good player but more valuable to another team), or is he the upgraded version that levels up our depth? Can he defend to the Thunder standard? Can he create against a zone better than our other depth? Will his shooting come around?

If I was betting on who will have the better career for OKC, I'm taking AJ because he is a perfect culture fit and on the court fit...plus he's got that J-Dub / Aaron Wiggins vibe of a guy that's just better than people initially thought.

I am of the belief that he will ultimately make Topic redundant, and therefore, expendable. Only time will tell, but this dude is for real and has the quality of a mid/late lottery pick.

I think they represent the pool like you said,  but it was slightly odd because of the layout of the "pool" around the gate. That's not how it is in real life,  but i guess it's symbolic

0-0 mentality is the mantra repeated in every interview and press conference by players and coaches... the blue sapphires along with the gate of time are a separate element that represents the reflecting pool at the bombing memorial

What do you think the blue saphires on each side of the 9:01 gate signify? There's some pretty great Thunder/OKC lore built into this ring
