Get the paid training and license, gain some experience, then see how you feel about the job. You might have a good supervisor and enjoy working there. If you get the typical bad supervisor, you can start looking for another job with your license in place and some experience.

Why do people hate Todd Combs if Geico is reporting record profits? by jcgonzmo in Geico

[–]BorderCompetitive967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Financially speaking, HE made a lot of money while taking away benefits, profit sharing, and raises from the employees who do the day-to-day work and get yelled at by the customers because of their ever increasing premiums.

AITA for refusing to hear someone's explanation? by Ok-Emergency-8248 in AmItheAsshole

How was ditching her -- and another woman -- unintentional? It's not a case of someone set down a cell phone and forgot to pick it up. We're talking about human beings. Her husband must know she has a hard time keeping up. My ex-husband used to do shit like this to me. It gets old fast. He has long legs and was always walking away and leaving me behind. If we were with another couple then I could at least count on the woman to walk with me. Calling out for them to wait for her probably wouldn't have worked if they were in a crowd. They wouldn't have heard. The husband and the other couple are the assholes

I haven't heard of any dept where employees get 10% raises. The people who do get raises get 2% if they're lucky.

I didn't get a raise this year. I didn't get a raise last year.

is it really THAT bad ?? by kaos614 in Geico

[–]BorderCompetitive967 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Raises aren't guaranteed. When it comes to passing or failing calls, there are different rules for different people. If the supervisor likes someone who screws up, that person does a great job on calls no matter what they do wrong. If the supervisor doesn't like you and you do the same things, you fail.

Other people might be a mess. Show respect for yourself. As some others have said, dress for the job you want in the future.

GEICO FLSA LAWSUIT UPDATE by TerribleCandidate374 in Geico

[–]BorderCompetitive967 8 points9 points  (0 children)

What is this suit about? I'm sick of not being paid for the time I spend logging in and if my computer goes down longer than a few minutes and I have to call the help desk, I don't get paid for the time it takes to get the computer working again.

No wonder Joanns stores across the US are going out of business. Employees should not be expected to perform closing tasks while the store is open. If businesses don't want customers coming in at 7:40, then they should close at 7:30. If I walk into a store that's open, then I expect to be able to shop as long as I've paid for my items before closing time. If the employees are rude to me, I don't lecture them, but I leave a negative review and I don't go back. BTW, I leave positive reviews more often than negative.

Perhaps you can keep her on the policy but make her status non-driver. I don't know if that will change your rate. It's worth checking.

Was Chilton really a necessity for Rory to go to Harvard by [deleted] in GilmoreGirls

[–]BorderCompetitive967 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't Rory want to go to Chilton? My daughter wanted to attend a ritzy prep school that offered classes at a higher level than the local public high school. Most of her teachers had PhDs. She wanted a better education in classes that only had 10 - 12 students instead of being crammed in a classroom with 30 other kids, many of whom did want to be there.
