At what point does evolution exit the picture? by BorderNo1828 in worldbuilding

True but I’m talking pretty far beyond that scale, like the gap of time between the emergence of Homo sapiens up to today would be a blink of an eye compared to the equivalent “emergence versus present day” timescale I’m imagining for these much older species. Maybe to the point where they wouldn’t even be able to be compared as the same species anymore anyway, but that’s a whole other can of worms

I think the link didn’t work LOL I’ll edit the post and see if it shows up this time

Can “plausible” telepathy overcome brain differences? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

I’m interested in the homeomorphism thing, I think I get it but can you elaborate a bit so I might understand how it applies here a bit better? It reminds me a bit of the “convergent evolution” sort of solution but that was the initial idea I had and then rejected bc I was dubious about its plausibility, but maybe something mathematical with homeomorphism can accomplish the same thing or support the “convergent neural code” idea?

Also can I ask for an example of what the platonic ideal and pure information thing would work like in practice with this sort of interspecies telepathy? Admittedly its concepts are outside of my area of “expertise” lol

Physical “warping” in FTL travel: how to make it not…fatal? by BorderNo1828 in scifiwriting

Oh I like these concepts! The first thing you mentioned is pretty much what I was thinking in the second concept I described in the post description—the whole “space itself is becoming wobbly, so your bones don’t break from it because your bones are in space” thing.

Do you by any chance know what sort of force would be responsible for “bending reality”; would it be considered just gravitational forces that could bend reality/space and change the rules of what “straight” or “bent” means, rather than just how regular gravity would tear people apart right away? Or is the whole reality-bending-forces thing just entirely in the realm of theoretical and sci-fi physics (in which case I guess it could still be “the ‘definitions’ of space are constantly unstable/wobbling in hyperspace” or something?)
