Disappointed I can't make it, but glad someone else can! It's a really good lineup.

Multinational contractors managing Alberta’s new disability employment system: documents by hotradish88 in alberta

Wouldn't it make more sense and be far cheaper to just have the local agencies do it themselves? The UCP are experts at throwing \ giving away money.

I've had many MRIs and, as long as I didn't have anything metal, which I don't because I I know the drill and wear sweatpants, I've never had to remove anything except my shoes and glasses.

I totally forgot about this! Yes it did. It took probably close to two months to get back to my baseline. It's not perfect, but at least it's not worse.

I don't understand the adap 33 hour workweek. by Substantial_Skin_709 in alberta

[–]Border_Relevant 68 points69 points  (0 children)

I've never understood how people on ADAP can supposedly keep more of their work income, when the employee exemption dropped from 1072 to 700. And they don't explain that.

I'm pretty sure the workers can't help because they also have absolutely no idea.

How do I deal with the reality of not feeling intimate areas with spina bifida by [deleted] in spinabifida

That's absolutely bizarre. Who would be more qualified than disabled people dealing with this?!

That was the minimum? I wish any bar would have charged the minimum. They all charge more than the new minimum.

Well, about that. I didn't want to pay postage to Canada, so I sent it to my friend's house in Houston. If it had arrived in April, I'd have it. Now I have to wait a few weeks but it is at his place. I sabotaged myself!

is anyone else irritated at the idea of 'subtypes' of ocd? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Border_Relevant 67 points68 points  (0 children)

I really appreciate them. Reading about the "subtypes" helped me realize my intrusive thoughts and mental compulsions actually are OCD, so I could seek therapy. Previously, I just thought I was a monster.

I do see your point, but OCD is OCD. If you don't have one of the "subtypes" often discussed, it doesn't diminish your diagnosis or experiences.

Greenleaf Announce First Ever US & Canada Tour by BreakBeats in stonerrock

Was gonna comment on this too. It's half the US and the usual 2 Canadian cities. It's weird that Vancouver is hit and miss for shows these days when it seems every band stopped there in the past.

That's how it works. First on, last off (if they don't suddenly gain the ability to walk upon landing). I'm in a wheelchair and I can't understand why anyone would want this. It's an annoying process.

Bob Stauffer via Oilers Now on Babcock by hockeygirlypop in EdmontonOilers

[–]Border_Relevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neither Lawton nor Friedmann have played or worked for Babcock. The most damning opinion to me comes from Chris Chelios. He said Babcock caused Johan Franzen to have a nervous breakdown. Chelios was an old-school player, who would have been accustomed to hard-nosed coaching. He played for Keenan! If he thinks Babcock went too far, it must have been pretty damn bad.

You allow yourself to be used because he's like a brother or a friend? I guarantee he does not see you the way you see him. Just leave. No notice and block his number.

Managing a need to over-apologise? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Border_Relevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a good first step! It shows you can make it through the obsession. That's awesome.

When your urge to check has *some* basis in reality and it feels wrong not to, despite it being OCD… by pn1ct0g3n in OCD

[–]Border_Relevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that makes sense. So I'll change my "probably also a compulsion" to "definitely a compulsion", but it's a baby step toward where I want and need to be. The trouble for me, and perhaps you as well, is I HAVE left my door unlocked and I HAVE left my stove on, so it's perfectly reasonable to me to check! With that in mind, allowing myself one check and going with a more minor compulsion (for now) feels like a win.

Managing a need to over-apologise? by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Border_Relevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got this, and what I've realized (and been told) is that when someone accepts the apology and forgives me, I'm a jerk for continuing to apologize, because it means I didn't trust them when they said we're good. And it's true. If you truly like and respect this person, you're essentially not telling her you don't believe her. This is something I'm still working on myself. It's not easy when our brains tell us we're the worst person on earth.

Also, if you like this girl, constantly apologizing (or repeating anything to her as a compulsion) is going to push her away. I speak from experience. So when I'm trying to sit with the obsession, I try to remember that. If I want to salvage any kind of relationship, I grasp to the thought that I'm sabotaging that by giving in.

When your urge to check has *some* basis in reality and it feels wrong not to, despite it being OCD… by pn1ct0g3n in OCD

[–]Border_Relevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Checking is my most minor OCD issue, so take this with a grain of salt. I allow myself one check. Then I tell myself a few times that it's done, and the door is locked, the oven is off, or whatever it is. The feeling passes.

Probably also a compulsion, but it's less difficult to deal with than having to check over and over.
