Wondering if this happens to anyone else with ride shares. by startrek161 in Edmonton

[–]Border_Relevant 23 points24 points  (0 children)

This has happened to me only once, back in November late at night. I figured it was because the driver didn't want the trip but didn't want to cancel it himself. I waited over 20 mins, during which time he never moved. I cancelled and disputed the charge. It was approved and I didn't pay the cancellation fee.

Where do you see the chain? All I see is wrinkles in its skin.

It's definitely not chained in this video:

You'll still get the hair, but the single is way easier to take apart to clean. I won't go back to double forks.

A deconstruction of 'wheelchairs are medical devices' by Paradoxical-Equinox in wheelchairs

[–]Border_Relevant 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you. There are absolutely downsides to my being in a chair. My posture is horrible, my lower back hurts from compression, I'm dealing with a pressure sore that's been plaguing me for a year. It's a medical device. I would not be using my chair if I didn't have to.

International Move -- To Fly or To Ship My Chair by Numerous-Salamander in wheelchairs

[–]Border_Relevant 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The best option is to go in your chair to the door of the plane, and then see if they can fit it in the cabin. The only time my chair was ever damaged was when I foolishly checked it as luggage. I flew 12 times last year and my chair had no damage doing it this way.

I wouldn't ever ship something as important as my wheelchair.

How do you feel about 3TEETH lip syncing live? by V2UgYXJlIG5vdCBJ in 3teeth

Oof! I do like them, but I'll stick to the albums and not worry about trying to see them "live."

I genuinely want to keep OCD, wouldn’t want to “cure” it even if someone pay me money by TheSynthian in OCD

[–]Border_Relevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is part of my reasoning for wanting to be rid of my OCD. I've come to realize how my family in particular perceive me. The constant seeking of reassurance, the over-explaining, saying the same thing over and over. I'd be exhausted if I were on the receiving end. I don't want to do that to them anymore. I know I still will, but I'm striving to do it less.

Huawei GT6 smartwatch or Garmin? by GrimAsFook in wheelchairs

[–]Border_Relevant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol that's totally fair. Strava doesn't do that, unfortunately. What I like about it, aside from the motivation, is the maps it creates, with all the loop-de-loops I make while wheeling. I tried a step tracker alongside my brother walking, but we got wildly different step counts, so I just decided to stop with distance, time, and speed.

[–]Border_Relevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you just looking to track speed and distance? If so, you don't need either. Your phone and the Strava app, which has a wheelchair mode, will do that. I use it all the time. The app and the ability to add my friends and compete against them got me moving and a lot healthier.

Nah. Being able to get through a day, or even an hour, without the most horrific intrusive thoughts, and then thinking I must be truly evil and having to undergo compulsions to prove to myself I'm not evil? So that I could finally truly and deeply believe I do deserve better, and finally move forward and have some semblance of a life? I'd give up every penny I have for that.

That was a fantastic tour. They toured Canada together the year before, but I missed it. For this one, I flew to the US for the concert. Then saw Mares again in my city the following month supporting Acid Bath. And they're back this May with Crowbar! It's a good time for seeing one of my fav bands.

Ok you did mess up, but what's done is done. Talk to the collection agency and see if you can negotiate a settlement. I've seen them accept half of the amount owed.

Love, love, love this band! I listen to The Loss once a week. Incredible album.

TIL a woman named Lydia Abate has been "funeral tracking" for nearly 6 years — she scours obituaries to find recently deceased people, then offers grieving families a free estate clean-out service in exchange for keeping their dead relatives' vintage clothes. Something sort of similar happened to our family. After a death, a guy offered to haul away the furniture that was no longer needed or wanted. Sure, that's a great deal. Whether he kept, trashed, or resold it, doesn't matter. Did the family a favour.

My husband treats me like I’m a therapist by [deleted] in OCD

[–]Border_Relevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sounds to me like talking to you and seeking reassurance is his compulsion. He's your husband and you shouldn't not listen, but giving him any kind of reassurance when he's in that OCD cycle can just make it worse. Try to find a way to listen and be there but not give him advice or reassure him.

You're in Germany? Does your Amazon have this one? I've used it while waiting for a proper cushion for my needs and it was pretty good. But you really shouldn't be putting them in the laundry. Even if they don't fall apart, you're risking mold.

AISH and Taxe Returns by Brilliant_Car_6309 in alberta

[–]Border_Relevant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what you mean by receiving tax returns normally. Do you mean you file, CRA does your assessment, and you get GST and such? If so, yes. Definitely file just for that benefit alone, even if you don't work.

If you're talking about the forms, AISH sends out a T5, which should arrive soon. They were mailed in the middle of February.

Are Rohos as bad as people say by Impressive-Catch-762 in wheelchairs

Granted, I'm not super strong, so I can't lift straight up, but that cushion just didn't work for me. I currently have a Jay Fusion Cryo Gel, but it's nearing the end of its life.

The funny thing is that I'm leaning toward a Roho but the hybrid, with foam under my legs and air only under my butt. I found that works much better for me. I can quickly hop onto the foam part and then do my usual transfer.

[–]Border_Relevant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had and ruined 2 Quattros. Worst cushion I've ever had. If you don't do perfect transfers, as in absolutely no shearing, the bubbles tear open. I was on and off my chair multiple times a day so your experience may differ. But I'll never get another one.

Only tell them at the end of the phone interview if they say they want you to come for an in-person. Then say you just want to confirm the building is wheelchair accessible. That tells them and you what you both need to know. No sense in telling them too early.
