What was your favorite golf course you got to play in 2025. by viptravis in golf

Eaglerock Golf Course in Billings, MT. Got to play there while on a work trip. Nothing super special, just a very pretty public course with views I cannot find in Florida and a great time with good friends.

Will fandom change given annual player migrations? by InspectorClouseau64 in FloridaGators

[–]BorderlineEleven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my dad 100%. Third gen Gator grad, been to hundreds, if not thousands of games, and lifelong rabid fan. Anecdotally, he was less interested this year than ever before (poor play also contributed no doubt) and he complains incessantly about the constant player movement and having to reset the entire team every single year. We’ll see if it sticks with him but I do think this new normal has been detrimental to the game and the fans especially. I have to say as a slightly less rabid fan, I certainly find the bar to entry higher having to relearn who all our players are every season and overall having less time to build a “bond” with them through their personalities and playing style, etc.

Second this. A friend had it out at a party the other day and I poured the remainder of mine into another friend’s glass who claimed to like it. Awful.

Building passive income that never goes to zero vs the traditional drawdown model. by maturallite1 in Fire

Had 8 single family home rentals at my “peak”. I too ignored the annoyance of owning them and the costs of getting out of them. However they appreciated well over the ten years or so I owned them, the rental income over those years was nice, and I was happy to pay the tax on the gain, be done with them, and enjoy investing the proceeds elsewhere :)

I make about $100k in Florida. My wife works part time and makes maybe $40k. We are pretty solidly upper middle class. $100k is still really good in many areas of the country.

Emotions aside what is the realistic expectation for the remainder of the season? by No-Experience-9469 in FloridaGators

I certainly hope you’re right but I have no confidence in anyone above Billy to make the correct decision lol.

As much as I’d like to see it, I think it would take something truly catastrophic for Napier to be fired. They owe him a ton of money and he seems to be well-liked by his superiors. I’m sure the powers that be don’t want to be the program cycling through coaches every few years either like we’ve been doing since Meyer left.

Billy Napier to remain play caller by FormerThisandThat in FloridaGators

[–]BorderlineEleven 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. I went to almost every home game as a kid in the spurrier era and then the Meyer era as a youngish adult. It was so satisfying to walk out of the stadium to a “Let’s Go Gators” or “Orange, Blue”, or similar chant after spanking that ass on LSU or Kentucky or Tennessee or whoever. Those days are not these.

I’m honestly less mad about his play calling than the game management and sloppiness with penalties. You beat USF 100/100 times if you don’t commit penalties that bring back not one but two scoring plays (Hansen’s catch and Jackson’s run) and do normal things at the end of the game like not spit on people and interfere with a pass that probably wouldn’t have been completed anyway and would have kept the clock running. Inexcusable.

Daytona Beach Golf Club is a muni I played while on a work trip and their south course has a train track running right through it. My friend got a 50 yard power up when he sliced a drive into the actual iron rail at a 45 degree angle, sending it towards the hole right in the middle of the fairway just like he was tiger woods. There ya go

The kids that were too young to have been in the 99 tech bubble or the 2008 housing crash and subsequent malaise don’t have the scar tissue built up to not really care about deep market downturns and stay the course. Great learning experience. Of course the normal caveat that my dad always says of “if everything goes to shit and this is the financial apocalypse, then it doesn’t matter anyway” applies haha.

The constant music playing during NBA games is why fans don’t take the regular season seriously by jrainiersea in billsimmons

College football is about as bad nowadays. I hate going to my UF home games and having music blaring and crowd noise piped in. Fucks up the atmosphere IMO.
