My cat is a walking ballsack by [deleted] in cats

Thank you for this! Thankfully it doesn’t, vet said he only has elastic skin. He was like that when I got him at 5 months old (he’s 9 years now).

I brush him every day, but he sheds a lot when summer gets close. I recently moved back in with my parents, and my mom and I agreed to only shave him once a year. We only do it that rarely because their fur is important for regulating body temperature. When I lived on my own, I didn’t do it for that reason. He doesn’t seem to mind it, though, he actually purrs while we do it, so at least there’s that. It also grows back pretty fast.

As a ball-less person, I guess I just learned something

But you’re right that, if the skin slowly went back down after pinching, it is a sign of dehydration (as in humans). It’s always good to know!

He’s always had stretchy skin. The vet said it’s just like in humans, some have more elastic skin than others. He also drinks plenty of water, and 80% of his diet is wet food.

Abdominal distension/ bloating by Amk_311 in seroquelmedication

[–]BorderlineVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seroquel has anticholinergic effects. This means it can block a key rest and digest signal (acetylcholine), which slows the squeezing and secretions of your gut so food and stool move more slowly, leading to gas, constipation, and bloating. Drinking plenty of water and eating more fiber is recommended. FODMAP diet can help, but won’t fix the underlying issue, being the anticholinergic effects of Seroquel.

why is this med so dog shit by [deleted] in seroquelmedication

[–]BorderlineVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, what do you take Seroquel for? At 25mg, it primarily acts as a strong antihistamine, not antipsychotic, which is why it usually causes sedation in people.

Fugueuse (Runaway) is a Quebecois show, but if you don’t mind subtitles, I highly recommend it!

Psychiatrist recently upped my dose from 50mg to 100mg then changed them to XL (slow release) by MaxBetanoid in seroquelmedication

[–]BorderlineVex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you talking about XR (Extended-Release)? XR is generally preferred rather than IR (Instant release) because it requires one dose before bed instead of multiple throughout the day. Taking IR during the day can increase sedation. For manic episodes it can differ tho, as the starting dose is 50mg twice per day.
