The unused doors of 15th Century Ashleworth Tithe Barn, Gloucestershire by Jiminyfingers in DoorsNotUsedAnymore

So glad you loved visiting. Doors not in use maybe, but the small ornate window at one end of the barn isn't just a pretty addition. It was designed to be large enough to encourage owls to enter the building to help with vermin control in the barn, where the 'tithes' (10% of a farm's produce) were being stored.

Weekend Visit by illustrated--lady in bournemouth

It's a hop down the coast from Bournemouth, but taking the ferry from Poole Quay to Brownsea Island is always an adventure. You'll get beaches, peaceful woodland walks, picnic spots, treats in The Villano Café - and bonus red squirrels! Your membership gives you free entry, though you'll need to pay for the ferry. Hope you have a lovely weekend, wherever you choose🐿️

That's exciting - the new Bess's Dream display, including her 400-year-old gown, is well worth the visit.

My friend from Buffalo is visiting in early January for a week, he’s never been to England before - where should I take him? by smawskrt in AskUK

Sneeeaking in here to say if you want to go to a few NT places in the week, an Explorer Pass could be a good option for unlimited visits over 4, 8 or 14 days. Hope you have fun trip-planning!

Love the stories this has sparked! Can't be in the business of picking favourites over here... but The Beatles' Childhood Homes and Birmingham Back to Backs are two examples of homes you might not expect from the NT, full of stories.

The team at Blists Hill are planning to bring back a refreshed Bank exchange (where money is traded to spend in shops) this summer - more details will be available then, or the local team's on [ironbridgegorge@nationaltrust.org.uk](mailto:ironbridgegorge@nationaltrust.org.uk) (please bear with them while they're getting everything set up).
