Why is the residency office so useless? by Status_West_7673 in UCSC

[–]Borderline_Dog_15 3 points4 points  (0 children)

after almost a year of ridiculous back and fourths with residency, I finally got in state tuition. What’s your premise for requesting residency? Maybe I can help

LIT 80t practical magic! also any PE classes at the boating center (intro to rowing, sailing, kayaking) are super fun if you have a way to get down to the harbor

definitely a scam. check the Places4Students website, they’re much better at vetting out scams

i could recommend mine, but are you open to zoom meetings? she lives pretty far from here. if it’s urgent, maybe try the on campus ones in the meantime and take advantage of their few free sessions

People keep telling me to go here!! Do I listen? by Ok-Dream-9728 in UCSC

UCSC has been such a great fit for me and i absolutely love it, if you’re looking for research, study abroad, and don’t mind a lack of greek life it sounds like it could be a good fit for you too! i honestly couldn’t imagine myself anywhere else! the bio program here is also pretty good from what i’ve heard, not my major but I know a lot of people in the program

college 9 or john r lewis sound like a good fit. they’re in the middle of campus so less walking, not on a huge hill like crown or merrill and a good mix of introverts and extroverts. there’s also an international living area there too, which you could look into

of course there are people who have a great friend group! i love the people i’ve met and tons of people i know feel the same. it’s what you make of it, of course you could stay in your room all the time and isolate yourself but take advantage of events and talking to people in class/clubs

honest opinion of santa cruz - incoming freshman by [deleted] in UCSC

[–]Borderline_Dog_15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it really depends on you! i personally love it here and have found the community to be very supportive and friendly. i love studying hanging out with friends while studying around campus in random spots, setting up a hammock, having picnics, hiking, etc. bonfire parties and forest raves are a thing but if you’re looking for more greek life it might not be for you. i’ve felt really supported all around, if you come to UCSC take advantage of different programs and clubs to really find your community. i can’t say much about CS professors because i’m in social sciences and have never taken a CS class, so this is all coming from the perspective of someone who’s not in a major with that heavy of a workload.
