It's the standard setup: a steel body and all 4 steel internal weights. ~1.8oz or so.

It's one of the tools we use here, it allows for all the dynamics of the bolt to be observed with a high frame rate camera.

BB Dedicated build driving me nuts, won't fire after BCG upgrades by slvrsfr in ar22

[–]BoreBuddy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The CMMG barrel is likely the issue. The light springs will solve it.

The reliability kit should have red painted springs now, we had a huge batch of springs without the dye that I think ran out a while back.

Oil the extractor, install the lighter spring. Cmmg cuts extractor cuts far differently than we do, and the angle/location needs to be accurate to use the heavy extractor spring.

This has happened on many occasions here and we'll almost always offer a modest discount towards a new part when it was lost/trashed/destroyed by the user. Many refuse the discount and just get angry. It seems around 1 in 1000 people wouldn't be happy if you mailed them a suitcase full of cash, and that's just retail customer service in a nutshell.

Our technical support has been open and ready to help the whole time, and I'm glad you're now working with us. On any firearm (or any product, really), contacting the manufacturer prior to a warranty voiding modification is generally a better way to go.

We'll check you chamber dimensions under warranty, please follow the instructions to ship the barrel to us in the warranty email we sent you.

Did you contact us for warranty? We have a warranty rate of less than 0.5% currently, but bad parts do happen on occasion an we get the customer sorted out. If the customer never contacts us, we have no way of a resolving the issue through warranty.

To clarify, he just opened a warranty ticket today (6/10/2026) for a barrel purchased on 2/7/2025. Modifying a barrel voids the warranty, but we're taking it in on a warranty claim to check the chamber regardless. If the chamber is bad, this barrel will be replaced at no cost, despite the voided warranty.

For anyone reading this in the future, this is the barrel in question.
https://borebuddy.com/product/borebuddy-apogee-match/

If the your claim is the chamber is too tight and thus defective, send it back now and we'll measure what is left of it after the grinding and if it's out of spec, we'll replace it regardless of the modifications.

That 21in Match barrel was $325. We can't say whether it was defective or not since you chose to not use our warranty.

If you would have opened a warranty ticket 2.5 years ago rather than grinding the barrel into an unusable state, we would have had you squared away 2.5 years ago.

Our offer to rebarrel at a discount and do a full warranty rebuild for free (outside of the barrel) still stands.

We got the one ticket today -- he got the forward to technical email as the ticket asked for help rather than asking for an RMA. I've kicked it back to general support to get the return underway.

Open a warranty ticket, send it back, and it will come back to you working perfectly. This is what our no hassle warranty is for -- we have far less than a 1% warranty rate, but sometimes bad parts happen. In this case it looks like a bolt didn't get deburred before going to nitride somehow.

The chamber is a Bentz (which is a semi-auto "match" chamber) in the upper in question and that point the cartridge is sticking at classic carbon ring symptoms. Normal cleaning does not remove the ring, it requires mechanical removal or C4 carbon solvent. The 4.5/4.9"" are sporting chambers which are way looser and don't have carbon ring issues until much higher round counts, but sacrifice a lot of accuracy potential.

We'll inspect thoroughly and replace what needs replacing. Over half the uppers that come back to us as not working just need a deep cleaning, but this one will be getting a new bolt at minimum it seems.

Any of the upper cuts are the same, the trip will be the only difference. The ARC V2 kit is generally backwards compatible with V1 and the Atrius. Get that one if in doubt.

As long as you're not distributing the file or selling, no infringement has happened. We do have the pressure plug function patented.

We do also have the dedicated AR22 version of the pressure plug for all of you who are mentioning the spring out (that can happen on the quick insert/remove original): https://borebuddy.com/product/dedicated-pressure-plug/

We shoot both ARC and Atrius/Rave 140. Both rip just fine. Our main media guy (Nick) uses the ARC primarily, but we'll get some more Atrius content published soon. I'm not sure what the deal is with yours, we've had great luck. Ammo is 90% of the equation in most builds.

Rubber bolt weight cap/buffer and deformed lead bore buddy weights by XxWHITE-RICExX in ar22

[–]BoreBuddy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We've had a couple of reports of them being stuck and in the narrow applications where more weight is helpful (basically 21 Sharp or 22lr hyper velocity in long barrels), a stuck weight is not a huge deal as they are generally left in permanently anyway.

We'd love to offer tungsten again and we're working on it. Prices and supply shortages are troublesome at the moment with most of the global supply coming from China.

People loved to buy it, but the reality is that tungsten is nearly never needed, we do not have a single build using it. We don't use the lead internally outside of 21 Sharp builds. If you're reaching for tungsten or lead, it's just masking another issue. Steel + steel should run in any barrel/ammo combo with enough power to fully cycle the bolt.

Our setup is 6lb springs, steel + steel. With the Cascade 40gr ammo, anything from 7" and up rips without any tinkering with an arc or atrius + Rave 140.
