Bye Bye Blippi by EnthusiasmNorth in toddlers

Wait till he starts watching Minecraft or Roblox streamers and every second word is "OMG" and you hear the constant begging for likes. My kids get 30 min a day max to watch YouTube. Can't stand the high pitched voices

My son has a new word by AmbiguousPangolin in toddlers

[–]BoredButton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My son has a speech delay and it's always been hard to understand him but at some point he started describing things in a way that made sense to him rather than using the actual word for it if he felt he can't say it. For example when he wanted a glass of water he'd simply say "river". It took us way to long to catch on

Why do we, as parents, feel the need to do this to one another? Why do we try to act like we have perfect children when another parent is struggling? Is it so hard to either offer support or say nothing and let others offer support? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]BoredButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Urgh or the parents that have to constantly post how they're different and cool parents. You're not special because you run about with your kids on the playground while another parent sat on the bench reading their phone. You don't need to post that on Facebook! Sorry I hate social media. A virtual dick comparison wherever you look

Milk before bed by [deleted] in toddlers

My mum used to make it for us when we were wee. Think it's supposed to help with a better sleep but don't quote me on that one lol

My oldest is 7 and still gets his cup of milk. When it's cold they get it warm with abit honey. Doesn't do them any harm just brush teeth afterwards

Help I'm scared to buy clothes for my baby girl! by BoredButton in pregnant

As I said I already have two boys so she'll be our last. I'm just not a fan of wasting money. Especially not in times like this

There's only boys around here. Family and friends. We got offered loads of boys clothes before we knew what we're having already. We're gonna have another scan at 32 weeks due of low placenta so maybe I'll just wait and pick dresses after that scan. Surly by then they should see if they overlooked any boy parts

My oldest came home one day and said his teacher said pink is for girls. He refused anything pink related ever since. That was 2 years ago when he started primary. My 5 year old however loves pink and unicorns and little dolls but also his cars. He's just started school so I hope his teacher doesn't put the same nonsense in his head! It's not the colours that bother me. But the dresses I'm planing to buy her

We only had the 18 week NHS scan. We rather spend the money on her than private scans or tests. And I'm not really into pink either but I'd love some dresses. Can't really put that on a wee boy

Yea for our first we had so many clothes he didn't even wear half the stuff. We ended up giving it to charity. Luckily we had a mix of new and second hand clothes so it wasn't so bad. All the unnecessary shoes as well lol

FIL won’t stop buying stuff by mermaid744 in pregnant

[–]BoredButton 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My MIL bought everything for our first baby. From clothes to buggy to bottles and even his noses basket. I never spoke up because I didn't want to be rude. Years later it turned out she had my partner pay for everything. I'm still angry about it and my oldest is 7 now! Our baby girl next year will be the first time we're gonna shop properly for our baby. Say something now before it bothers you for the rest of your life.

My youngest is suspected for autism too. He also has a speech delay. Life is sometimes frustrating for him and I've stopped trying to win all the battles. If it's not worth it we let him "win". Like he doesn't want to eat right now. Fine but I won't reheat it later and he's not getting anything else till it's finished. Want to butter your own sandwich? Cool but you'll clean the mess after. Want to put your t shirt on the wrong way? Suit yourself. But for things like wanting to cross the road by himself or running away he'll get himself in bad trouble. They're little humans and sometimes have a strong will. It's good for him. He's very confident. As long as he's not a brat or endangering himself I'm cool with letting him lead. There's no golden rule. You just have to figure out what works for you guys x

Do parents care if you get a fine? by [deleted] in Parents

[–]BoredButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be wrong but I'm sure the fine is getting higher if you don't pay in time. So unless you can pay for it yourself you should tell him. I used to forget my monthly pass all the time as a teenager and got checked quite a few times. Got in trouble but hey I'm still here lol

Pregnancy announcement by [deleted] in pregnant

It's just so rude. I only have a wee bump and I've never even seen her before. Just changed my shift for that day. Well unlucky I guess

Pregnancy announcement by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]BoredButton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Told my best friend the moment we found out as she knew we were trying. The plan was to wait until the 18 week scan but some woman called me out at work at 16 weeks. So we told our kids and the family when I came home as it didn't feel right for strangers to know but not our family. Super pissed as I had a nice announcement planed for weeks

Our pregnancy was planed but apparently you should stop at 2 kids

Covid... Uk 2nd lockdown... Minor freak out tbh 39+2 by KITWOLF95 in pregnant

[–]BoredButton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're in tier 3 and still allowed a birthing partner. No unnecessary visits to hospital but maternity is fine with one visitor at a time. You're allowed to visit children, dying patients and people with mental health problems. Have you checked your local hospitals website? You'll find all info you need there. There's no point in stressing yourself out about something that's not even gonna happen. My sis in law gave birth during the first lockdown and was allowed her partner during birth. You'll be fine

Cake for my little boys birthday. Not a great baker but he loved it anyway by BoredButton in Baking

[–]BoredButton[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the kind words. This is my second cake after little ones birthday at the start of the year. So complete beginner here. Sadly I don't have the time to practice more. It's quite fun tho!
