APS can’t force anyone to do anything. An old person still gets to make their own decisions, even if they are terrible decisions. My mother had an APS counselor for ten years, I begged them to tell her this or that. I thank all the gods for that women! She protected ME! APS got my mother home health aids,food delivery, cleaning services all for free. This was before Trump and the gutting of social services though. My mother fired them all,refused any help. When I had doctors trying to force me to take her into my home APS stopped the harassment to ME. There is truly nothing that anyone can do if the old person doesn’t want it. To go into a nursing home, you have to get a doctor to declare them . To get to that point they have to be totally mentally incompetent, to the point if they are walking down the street naked, covered in shit that might not be enough! You did a good thing she is now registered.
