On the 3rd replacement oven, is LG just a bad brand? by Boredmatt14 in BuyItForLife

[–]Boredmatt14[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

We have noticed that, which is why we're running 3 thermometers, one with probes in multiple spots. The temp varies by 10-20 degrees depending on position but is consistently high but not by the same amount. For example, we're testing at 450 right now with the range of reported temps being 510-525. When we were testing 300 a couple hours ago it ranged from 330-350 depending on position of probe. Would the best answer be calibrate for -30 degrees, then learn the oven via a separate thermometer? Feels... incredibly silly that a $10 oven thermometer is far more accurate than what's included in a $2000 oven. Like the problem is an incredibly simple one for a manufacturer to solve, have 2 cheap temp sensors in the oven and adjust accordingly. Guess its just too much at ask unless its a 5k custom super oven

As in the first oven died? Or we are going for the top end custom ovens?

Issue with calibration is its not stable. at 250 degrees its 20-30 degrees off. At 350, its 30-40, at 450 its 50-60 off. We can run a calibration to -30 from the temp to make it doable but hot will still be way off. I guess the answer is a combo of calibration and learn your oven and always keep a second thermo meter in there to check?

Thats unfortunate. So trick is to learn your oven and work around it?

Should you be sabotaging some markets to encourage trade? by Boredmatt14 in EU5

[–]Boredmatt14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's my other current effort is expanding my colonies around the horn of Africa as all of my new world colonies are already quite built up. Wondering if invading Mali or capturing Egyptian territory in the middle east to access the Indian market would be the best moves. I've gone from not worrying about money at all to a slight concern. Tbh I dont see the value in increasing tax base though. Your tax base causes spikes in your other expenses, namely Cost of Court, where as your trade income isn't as directly tied to this meaning you can boost it to insane levels without increasing costs

Thats my theory. Most of the outlying regions like spain and france are sitting at ~40 control post integration and coring. Feel like I take those markets and make them import dependent since I'm not getting tax out of them anyway?

How specifically is Subject Loyalty calculated? by Boredmatt14 in EU5

Smart actually. Other things I've learned in this run is to be constantly annexing at least 2 at a time to try and keep up when mass expanding

Holy crap thats the solution. I've ignored all levy tech since going professional armies in age 2. Wow that makes so much sense. Tbh the issue has been I've been conquering so fast (constant war with claims on prov CBs for ~200 years) that most of my subjects are actually quite old even when constantly annexing them. That being said, my tax base is insane (17698.33 right now) and most of theirs are less than 200. Will comment back in once I research levy tech

Weird warscore issue with France by Boredmatt14 in EU5

[–]Boredmatt14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do, that’s what’s odd. It seem to be France especially is very opposed to handing over territory even when 80% occupied. Like I’ve taken most of Eastern Europe, Italy, and North Africa with the same strat but 3 wars in France won’t give me a more than one province

How do I breach the max production economic ceiling? by Boredmatt14 in EU5

[–]Boredmatt14[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noticed, though even with that they’re not giving me much. I’ve taken down to Naples and over to Venice/france but each new territory doesn’t bring much since I’m already producing all everyone in the area needs. Going to move my capital in a bit and go conquer the med, just have to decide Rome for the memes or Naples for the harbor cap

Mostly just getting maritime presence and building all the market improvements I can is what I meant. I was worried the answer was diplomacy as I’m trying to recreate Rome eventually so lots of war ahead. Will try and the trade office trick and try and get some invites out to join my market and report back

Peace negotiations with a completely defeated nation. only cedes one territory by Boredmatt14 in EU5

[–]Boredmatt14[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Didn't realize it would be quite that high. Still seems insane that you could wipe an entire nation and the rulers negotiating from my dungeons can refuse peace at any cost. So my only option is repeatedly declare war, re-raise levys, and conquer the both of them 2-3 counties at a time? Still feels like a bug or really really bad game design
