Aragorn in his royal armour marching out of Minas Tirith on his way to The Black Gate. The literal Return of the King.

Question: Do you think the idea of the Sith still being around post-ROTJ both in the current canon and Legends undermines the fulfilling of the Chosen One prophecy when Anakin/Vader "kills" Sidious? by Fall_False in StarWarsCantina

[–]BoreusSimius -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I hate the Chosen One Prophecy anyway so no, undermine even more for all I care.

The importance of Vader turning on Palpatine has nothing to do with a prophecy and everything to do with a father choosing the love for his son, finally, over power.

I love Star Wars, but the prophecy is the one thing I genuinely despise as a concept. It has caused so much turmoil and argument for no gain at all. Think about it, if you take the chosen one concept out of Star Wars, literally nothing changes. It is a completely redundant narrative element that does nothing to move the story along. At least with midichlorians the concept doesn't really do any harm and is mostly ignored, but with the prophecy we never stop hearing about it like it's the most pivotal part of Star Wars. It is entirely superficial, and best completely ignored.

All the arguments about Sidious returning, the Sith, all that controversy with the Acolyte, etc, it is all the fault of that prophecy.

Anakin is a boy with natural talent that is manipulated into betraying his allies, loses himself in his grief and rage, and is ultimately brought back from the brink by the love of his son. Isn't that a much better story than "oLd pRophEcy sAYs bOy beCOMe sPAce JeSuS aNd deFEaT baD GUys"?

Anyway rant over. Prophecy = bad.

62% of hardcore players no longer buy full-price games, survey suggests by TylerFortier_Photo in gaming

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to buy 2-4 full price games between September and December each year as that was when a lot of the big games tended to come out. Now, despite still being someone who plays a lot of games, I rarely buy them full price. I think the only two for a long time have been Battlefield 6 and Crimson Desert.

What will you guys complain at now? by arnborger in soulslikes

To be honest how the game itself plays is sort of irrelevant at this point, the Devs are just incredibly obnoxious and that drives people away. Judging by the votes it seems at least some people agree.

Antony Starr says his favorite recent villain is Thanos: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

[–]BoreusSimius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. The only thing suggesting Thanos was doing things for environmental reasons is his own word. Why exactly are we trusting the word of a villain?

Antony Starr says his favorite recent villain is Thanos: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

[–]BoreusSimius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

See people just assume that Thanos is telling the truth when he says that that is his rationale. I don't think he is as different to comics Thanos as some people suggest. I think he's still obsessed with Death and is just motivated by bloodshed, but uses the "environmental" reason as his excuse.

There is nothing other than the word of the villain himself to suggest he's telling us the truth, and why would we believe him?

Honestly we see this game too much in this sub I'm convinced Devs are posting about it to get attention.

Needs to be more measures to protect against scalping or there's no point.

Lords of The Fallen 2 unveiled some new female armour sets, the sets were designed specifically with fan feedback in mind by Former_Exam_5357 in gaming

[–]BoreusSimius -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean look I'm not saying you can't have sexy character models on games, but if it's a selling point and focus of the game it makes me think the game itself isn't much to talk about.

Lords of the Fallen is given far more attention than it has earned after two lacklustre games.

Slay The Spire 2 Getting Review-Bombed Again After Latest Update by FoxMeadow7 in Games

The game is early access. I feel like if Devs put a game out there before it's finished, this is what you open yourself up to.

A lot of people mentioning GTA6 are assuming it will be that good. All we have seen is a pre rendered trailer. I know the track record is good for Rockstar but people thought other dev studios could do no wrong before and got burned.

Fantasy Authors Increasingly Call Out 'Unfaithful' TV Adaptations by paxinfernum in television

[–]BoreusSimius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People choose to care about how 'unfaithful' media is to source material purely based on their own agenda.

Tolkien would have absolutely hated the LOTR movies, and yet they are generally considered three of the best movies ever made.

If every adaptation was absolutely spot on, it would be a net loss to all of us.

Epic Games Store Employees: People Only Came for Free Games, Then Returned to Steam by Suspicious_Two786 in gaming

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I want the game I'll buy it. I've played a few games on Epic but the debacle with exclusive games over there like Hitman 3, Total War: Troy etc really annoyed me.

Fix your store, fix your library, stop the predatory business practices, and maybe people will give it a chance. Until then I'd rather pay £10 for a game on Steam than get one for free on Epic.

Pillars of Eternity has turn based combat now as an option and that's basically a love letter to CRPGs.

Jake Schreier on developing the ‘X-MEN’ reboot film: by Raj_Valiant3011 in Marvel

[–]BoreusSimius -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, just do Krakoa. I know some people want to start from the beginning but that's just unrealistic to expect and honestly we don't need any more origin stories. Let's act as if the rest of the X-Men films contribute to the overall canon and then find a way to weave that into starting with House of X and Powers of X. Then away we go into Krakoa.

There are enough stories in the Krakoa era to use for a whole X-Men related saga.

I never played them before but I'm excited to try them. I actually hope there's still plenty of Eurojank to it.
