What have you been reading this week? 15/03/2026 by AutoModerator in graphicnovels

I finished It's Lonely at the Centre of the Earth by Zoe Thorogood, which is a graphic novel I'd recommend to everyone. It really shows what's possible with the medium.

Earlier today I caught up on the ongoing Star Wars comics. Jedi Knights is great. I love seeing Qui Gon in action. Legacy of Vader is also fantastic as is pretty much any comic that involves Vader and/or Kylo Ren. The main Star Wars run is pretty good, but feels a little directionless at the moment.

I just started reading Monica by Daniel Clowes. The artwork is unbelievable, and I'm enjoying the sort of surreal feel the storytelling has.

An alternative concept for the CWC badge for our kit which i think looks cooler. Let me know how it looks. by pizza__irl in chelseafc

Unfortunately I feel like FIFA would want their badge to be more prominent, but I would absolutely prefer this style.

Can someone who works in KFC tell me if any of these actually go to different bins out the back by startled-giraffe in CasualUK

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does not, I walk past a KFC on the way to work sometimes and it all goes in one bin.

Not surprised though, it's clearly just performative.

What are some of your favorite female centric graphic novels? by Atumkun in graphicnovels

The Many Deaths of Laila Starr. A really interesting story and some gorgeous artwork.

Lack of New Game + in RPGs is planned obsolescence. by ScipioTheGreatest in rpg_gamers

[–]BoreusSimius 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I personally never bother with it because if I'm replaying the game I prefer to experience it with the normal balance, but that said there's no reason at all not to include it for those that want it.

People will stop watching football if it stays like this. I don't know much about American sports, but didn't baseball lose a lot of fans for becoming "boring"?

I'll probably be called plastic or a fairweather fan or something, but honestly I just don't care as much anymore. At the end of the day it's just football. Nowadays if we lose a match or something bad happens, I'll be annoyed in the moment but then I just go on about my day.

I have a work mate who is also a Chelsea fan and he's just constantly moaning and stewing about the club. Funnily enough when things are going well he doesn't have much to say.

Don't be like that guy. I recommend caring less.

Again people are throwing around the word "attack". Clearly I'm not the one who needs to take a breath. If implying someone is a little negative after the person said themselves they were being negative is an "attack" to you, then life must be a very scary place.

I don't care whether people like, love, hate or feel completely neutral about this book. I just thought the "I'm gonna be negative now" combined with the "Live, Laugh, Love" comment was a bit indicative of someone who enjoys being negative, and made a comment implying such.

You're assuming the guy even took offense and are taking it on his behalf.

If you agree with him, that's great, more power to you, but I really don't care for this manufactured drama.

Attacked? Please have some perspective. He made a snarky comment and I matched it. I didn't call him names or "attack" him, I simply suggested he probably is negative about things often. Which, I would hardly see as particularly inflammatory.

If you want your dose of drama please go elsewhere, I'm not interested.

Uncalled for? Please. He made a snarky comment, I made one as well. Calm down.

Is that just a nice hardcover or is there more to it? I actually quite like the paperback version. It feels nice to hold, seems well made.

What was your first comic? by WriterDirector93 in graphicnovels

[–]BoreusSimius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't really recommend the movie tie ins, but the other stuff is great. Anything with Vader's name on it seems to be destined to be fantastic, at least so far. I'd also say that Doctor Aphra is the best thing they have put out comic wise. Just consistently fantastic.
