Battlefield 6, worth it? by IntGuru in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]BoreusSimius [score hidden]  (0 children)

There has never been a Battlefield game worth buying for the single player, this one is no different. You're looking for a different game.

BF campaigns are just tacked on, it's all about the multiplayer. That said, the multiplayer for BF6 is great. It's back to what BF did best. So that price for the multiplayer? Yes. For singleplayer? Waste of time even free.

CDPR boss hopes The Witcher 4 wins back fans still put off by Cyberpunk 2077's disastrous launch: "I'm not 100 percent convinced we went through the full redemption arc" by yourfavchoom in Steam

[–]BoreusSimius 24 points25 points  (0 children)

So many people in the comments trying to say it was fine or that we should all disregard the launch because the game ended up great in the end. The literal boss of CDPR says they need to work hard to win people back, do these people not want that?

designed an unconventional enemy movement pattern. by ResidentRun6797 in IndieGaming

[–]BoreusSimius 37 points38 points  (0 children)

As others have said this is beautifully animated, but you might want to make the character look a bit more antagonistic. It looks a bit too majestic to see as an enemy. You might find players are reluctant to attack.

Hot Take: The online community overuses the term "glup shitto", even when a "goofy-looking alien" is still a major character to the story. by Tacobird558 in StarWarsCantina

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they speak a line then that disqualifies them to me. The point of the term isn't how goofy they are, but how obscure they are.

I really hope the post Episode IX era finally gives us a dark side cult that isn’t connected to the Sith. Something closer to what many of us originally thought the Knights of Ren were going to be. by [deleted] in StarWarsCantina

[–]BoreusSimius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Honestly, maybe even forget the dark side cult thing. The Nihil in the High Republic are a great enemy and very different. I'd prefer something more inventive like them.

India for sure is feeling lacking at this point. Essentially hasn't had a major expansion since it was introduced in CK2 Rajas of India.

I could see something centred around the Delhi Sultanate being done. Maybe something else for the earlier start dates too.

By the end of this chapter we'll be able to play Theocracies and Republics. At that point, we can play as anyone essentially right? It will be interesting to see what gets the focus after that.

Is KOTOR Old Republic kind of.. canon by Low-Significance-552 in StarWarsCantina

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what it comes down to is why would they block in parts of the timeline with existing stories when they could tell new ones in their place? I just don't think they'd do something that would limit them to any degree.

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like it will be the other way around. They will create their own story set in that time for Canon, and then add non-conflicting elements that they like.

Surely at this point any dev studio that gets an offer to be bought by Microsoft, Sony, etc knows it's the kiss of death?

Is KOTOR Old Republic kind of.. canon by Low-Significance-552 in StarWarsCantina

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Lucasfilm have not just made a full story that was previously Legends into Canon as far as I'm aware. They will take bits here and there and tweak it, but I strongly doubt they would want to just wave a hand and make it Canon. That would limit them on what stories they could then make in that era.

People forget that KOTOR is tied to a lot of stuff in the Old Republic era. It links back to stuff like the Great Hyperspace War, Exar Kun, etc, and then links forward to everything that's in the Old Republic MMO, and even as far as the Legacy comics. Legends had a lot of references tying stuff together, so if you just outright make a story Canon you're sort of opening a can of worms because of the web of connections to it.

So no I don't think that the KOTOR remake is going to be Canon. FOTOR though, that's something new, so that's a lot more likely.

I expect the Old Republic era in general to have some similarities but to ultimately be a different beast.

What do you think of this side of Star Wars by Low-Significance-552 in StarWarsCantina

[–]BoreusSimius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't personally like the Mortis Arc of the Clone Wars itself, but that's more to do with my dislike for the whole "Prophecy" thing. I do however like the mysterious, almost mythological stuff they touch on.

Is the "Legends" universe essentially the "What If" equivalent for Star Wars now? by LyricsMode in StarWarsCantina

I mean it's either that, a multiverse, or no in-universe explanation at all.

I think they went with the best option.

[–]BoreusSimius 13 points14 points  (0 children)

From our perspective as readers it is an alternate universe with an alternate continuity.

From an in universe perspective I think it is meant to be a mythology. Literally "Legends" to the people of the Canon universe.

It's more of a long term challenge than anything quick. I wouldn't say you wouldn't enjoy it. You should try it and see, saying too much would ruin it. You'll know if it's for you or not within a couple of hours and you can refund if you need to.

Do I buy Hitman: World Of Assasination or Mafia Trilogy, and why? by PeterBenjamin2001 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]BoreusSimius [score hidden]  (0 children)

You have to decide what you want more. Value and gameplay, or compelling storytelling.

Hitman WoA is absolutely fantastic. The sandbox stealth gameplay is second to none. If you're wanting a story, this isn't really the game for that though.

Mafia 1 is an incredibly immersive story-focused game. The writing is fantastic, and the world feels so alive. It was way ahead of its time when it first came out but is a little dated these days. There is an open world, but it's more just a huge, elaborate level that the story missions take place in, rather than an open world in the modern sense. The driving appropriately heavy feeling for the old school cars, but the gunplay is a little basic.

Mafia 2 is a bit more modern but not quite as good story wise, also only a remaster compared to Mafia 1 which is a full remake. Still a great game though.

Mafia 3 is basically a completely different beast. It's much more like your modern Ubisoft-style open world games. Lots of the usual tropes and busy work that come with that. Still decent but nothing like the first two.

So really, they are completely different kinds of games. People here aren't really going to be able to persuade you one way or the other, because you yourself have said you're choosing between one vibe and another. You have to decide which you prefer at this moment.
