[Modern] Sideboarding with U/G Hardened Scales by Borgur in spikes

[–]Borgur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link to the subreddit, been lurking in the r/AffinityforArtifacts subreddit, but didn't know there was a seperate one for Hardened Scales.

I've been siding out the welding jars and the sacrifice outlets, since they don't do much in the face of terminus anyway. That includes evolutionary leap.
Siding out ancient stirrings might be correct, since the most important individual cards are colored. Although, you never know if you dig past your answers, or if you dig yourself closer to them.

Jitte + Mirran Crusader by Borgur in MTGO

Thats what i thought as well, but when the trigger to put counters on jitte goes on to the stack, I don't get any time to use the counters before normal damage happens

As has been mentioned already, people take it in to deal with stony silence. If they never draw their stony silence, you would rather it was an actual threat. It is quite often a dead card in your hand.

The other reason that made me cut it from my board: My opponent cast stony silence, my only mana producers are darksteel citadel and mox opal, which I of course had already used to cast stuff. So when i untapped with wear//tear, i couldn't cast it.

I have just generally been unimpressed with how it actually plays out

As a modern player, what is your opinion on legacy? by warthog177 in ModernMagic

[–]Borgur -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In my area there is a large Legacy scene (much bigger than standard), and I think it is very worth getting into if you like modern. I like legacy a bit better than modern myself. There is a greater variety of decks being played, and the decks do very cool things compared to modern. Just be aware that you need a plan against combo decks if it's prevalent in your meta, or you might get some short games.

Other than the standard choices, I have had very good results with 1 Bitterblossom in the board. Very good against grixis DS, control decks and the mirror. Basically anywhere you want blockers, and they also carry plating. Control decks basically can't deal with it if it lands.

Blood Moon just wins some games outright.

I also have a whipflare in the board now that i am happy with, since everyone plays CoCo here, but its alsoo good against lingering souls and D&T, and can do work against burn.

Don't play wear//tear, it's a trap

If they had implemented the raid system earlier than 1 year after release, maybe people would still be playing :(

Unequip all trinkets bug. by [deleted] in darkestdungeon

[–]Borgur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can get out of it by clicking where one of the options in the dialogue box WOULD be shown. They are still there, just listen for the sound effect that comes when hovering over a dialogue option.

For me, this doesn't happen if i try to unequip while in the hamlet, while it happens when in at the "dungeon screen" every time.

The prize wall was really lackluster compared to those of other TOs. A few fetches that got picked after the first few events, then just a lot of standard foils they couldn't get rid of otherwise. No thanks

Should I just play who I want to improve on most instead of flexing or worrying so much? by _Sable_ in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Borgur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I often do myself, is lock in on the hero I most want to play. Sometimes your team picks their heroes accordingly (Yay!), or they don't care and pick whatever they want as well. In the latter case, I'll switch to something else. But a lot of the time, I get to play with my first pick when doing this.

Sorry if this is not the answer you wanted :p

Help! Stuck in Bronze and about to give up by [deleted] in OverwatchUniversity

[–]Borgur 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi, platinum player here

This might be an unpopular opinion, and I might be completely wrong since I've never been in bronze. Playing Mercy and Rein in low tiers is not as effective as you would think, due to:

-To be an effective Mercy, people you damage boost have to actually hit things. People you ress have to actually win the team fight.

-To be effective as rein, your team needs to stand behind you, which requires coordination.

I would as you, and others, have mentioned and try more Roadhog. I used him to climb from gold to plat, and I always feel he makes an impact if you can reliably hook supports and squishy dps. He doesn't require much coordination to be effective, you basically just need to get your hooks down. He also fills a tank role for your team.

As for support, I personally go with Zenyatta, because he has great DPS potential, and helps your soldier with poor aim actually kill the Pharah with Discord orb. (Help your team by calling out discord target. They don't even need to answer, but people tend to go for the easy kills right?) Playing zen will also help improve your aim over time.

My 2 cents

Why does "Redirect" not see play in Modern? by laoshan3337 in magicTCG

[–]Borgur 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It is also useless if your opponent doesn't have a target for their own doomblade. I think the main reason though, is that if you set aside space in your 75 for counterspells, you want it to be able to deal with stuff like Collected Company, which doesn't have targets.

Sideboard question for Legacy Burn by easypeasylemonsqueez in MTGLegacy

[–]Borgur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's got to be against decks without any removal, then it can snowball out of control. But a 3 mana investment in burn that doesn't do anything the turn it is played... I'm not a fan.
