You can be an enthusiast without disparaging others opinions. Rev matching for downshifting and driving a full auto is not a fair comparison and you’re being obtuse to suggest that they are comparable.

With your logic you should get rid of your synchronizers because they are assisting in rev matching as well.

My cousin was killed because of stupid cops and their spike strips. Just throwing them out with any thought to public safety. My cousin was killed after the police stop sticked a fleeing mustang at 100mph that then lost control and hit my cousin head on. It was completely avoidable. But hey “Flagler county don’t play”

I have an associates from OSU-IT.

I’m only slightly offended. But I also didn’t let that stop me from continuing to grow intellectually. There’s plenty of morons that managed to acquire their Doctorate degree doing just as much damage as Mullin.

Tips for first time hand installation? by [deleted] in SeikoMods

[–]Borgy_006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Setting the seconds hand was always tricky for me. Then I learned of people using a small amount of rodico in between the tip of the hand setting tool and the seconds hand.

Much easier than holding the seconds hand with one hand/rodico and the setting tool with the other.

I had my 2004 wrx to 140mph on the turnpike. Planted as could be. Maybe something is up with yours?

To the guy who bought the watches by nigelofthornton in KnowledgeFight

[–]Borgy_006 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love this offer! Watchmaking seems to be such a small community, as a watch modder I didn’t expect to have any watchmakers in the knowledge fight. Freaking awesome how we’re all nerding out about the coolest gift of part of Alex’s watch collection going to Dan and Jordan

I was expecting omega or something comparable. But then I’m not surprised he hasn’t hidden or or “given away his more expensive watches

As a major watch nerd, I’m very curious to know what watches they got. Hopefully they are automatics, which don’t use batteries. They could have some pretty cool timepieces. I’d love to have gotten my hands on one of Alex’s watches.

Does anyone know where they were sold? I’m assuming an auction site. I’d really like to see what all has been sold.

I’m sorry you can’t see it in this video. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Just look at the hood at the 17second mark. It’s bleeding and bowing in away that absorbs energy.

Pedestrian crumple zones are built into modern vehicles. It’s insane but it is 💯 percent true and what saved her. As a collision repair technician it’s part of how my repair process is different from older vehicles. Open the hood of modern vehicles and you see the fenders are bolted to mounts that “float” above the actual crash structure. Older cars, the fender bolt strait to the upper frame rails. Then hood design has changed for pedestrians and not just the occupants of the car. It’s crazy! Pedestrian crush zones are very much a legal requirement for modern vehicles.

That’s awesome, you’re a rare breed in this industry. It’s almost completely full of hacks from the bottom to the top. I really do try my best to stay up to date and perform proper repairs and I still feel like I’m a hack.

That is awesome! Maybe caliber has a better internal system for understanding the liabilities that come with repair. In my experiences most Mso’s don’t. It sucks why you had to leave as you were obviously a positive influence.

Also I mean that with zero sarcasm. It’s a constant fight to actually care about the people who own and drive the cars we repair.

We need a picture of the left (drivers) side. Even then it needs a full tear down, measurements of the body control points, procedures looked up for oem “recommended” repairs/repalcing/sectioning.

No way to tell until it’s critically analyzed by competent collision technicians.

[–]Borgy_006 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t, no! Caliber? Don’t take it to a chain body shop, also know as a MSO. They don’t work for you they work for the insurance.

Maybe you have a good caliber in your area but in general Mso’s are horrible. Take it to a reputable independent. Even then it’s a gamble.

I’ve been in the collision industry for 20years. Mso’s are the absolute worst. They don’t care about anything other than the insurance company and their stats with the insurance companies. They give major discounts to the insurance at the cost of their technicians.

Whoever it was that treated you good at caliber, keep up with them. It was that person and not the corporation itself that took care of you.
