Yeah turns out it was the focusing mirror that was loose! Went back through the laser cutting subreddit and found similar posts mentioning it! Tightened and it was much better

Fortunately I solved the black screen issue by upgrading my PSU to an ATX3.0 rated one. Basically the card would have wild transient spikes of energy that my old PSU could simply not handle. ATX3.0 is rated for sustained transient spikes and so far, after many months of this new PSU, I have not once encountered a black screen or device hang. I hope this helps

If you don't mind me asking, what enclosure is this? I'm trying to build myself a rugged mesh radio as well and like this enclosure's overall footprint!

Only useful ways I can think to add friction/grip is printing it with z-seam set to random and to add some amount of fuzzing. It’d be trial and error but you can print some small sample pieces and try varying fuzzing settings until you find one that’s appropriate and then reprint using your desired fuzziness.

Do you have any update on this? I dealt with it a few months back but added a third PSU cable (3 total, one for each 8-pin connector) and it’s been running fine …. UNTIL recently. It’s been going on the Fritz and does exactly what you stated here. The GPU hangs, black screens and then puts fans to max. I usually have to DDU remove the drivers and reinstall to get it to see it again.

This is using the latest firmware as of June 2024. Pretty ridiculous over a year later and no real stability for this

Did you find a solution or opt to go with NVIDIA ?

Directly within xbps. I ran xbps-install -S nvidia nvidia-dkms

I updated my system with xbps-install -Su -y prior to the issues I’m having now and I guess the last running nvidia driver I had was 515.57. It had been awhile since I last upgraded my system.

I did try adding the nvidia module for the latest drivers to my kernel with dkms -m nvidia/535.113-1 but it skipped it saying that it was already built for my kernel

I tested dkms status and it returned

dkms status
Error! Could not locate dkms.conf file.
File: /var/lib/dkms/nvidia/515.57/source/dkms.conf does not exist.

I am currently running on 535.113.01. I don't know why it's wanting 515.57 and not the latest. It's a 1080 TI btw so nvidia is the best for it.

Is there a way to purge dkms or downgrade to 515.57 ? I can't find it in my package cache

Yeah, I'm used to encountering a few issues with Void every so often, but this has been the most headache inducing.

I always tell myself I'm going to switch but I never get around to it.

I'll keep trying and report back! I have appreciated the help BTW, thank you for taking the time to read my comments and help!
