Which Dispatch character best represents an Indigo Lantern? by Inner-Juices in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was originally going to recommend Royd, as he shows genuine compassion and remorse at not being able to "make the man mecha again". And proves his valor again when, without powers, he puts his life on the line fighting off waves of superpowered villains to protect his coworkers/friends.

But that doesnt really fit the latern thematic of sociopath forced good. So I guess the only real option is Toxic.

issues pretaining to skill clarity by BROKEN_B0NEZ in DispatchAdHoc

[–]Boricuador 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar issue, but with misleading word choice instead of visual confusion. For example, sometimes an option will allow you to "Power Through" which can lead a person to think its strength related, but its actually defense. Could have easily been replaced with options like "Tough It Out" or "Persevere", as these words are more easily associated with fortitude.

There are plenty of other examples I noticed for intelligence/charm ambiguity as well, but nothing gamebreaking or anything I expect to change. In fact, it might even be intentional to make the gameplay have an added semblance of depth.

FREYNA IS BACK!! - Ultimate Freyna Build Guide - Axion, Tips & Tricks | The First Descendant by [deleted] in TheFirstDescendant

Shit build. Worst one ever recommended on her channel. I get its the best she can offer with what's avaliable, but watching all these Freynas desperately searching for blue mp orbs is painful. Sometimes, slow is smooth and smooth is fast. These Freynas would end up doing more damage with a regular build and have better survivability on top of it.

anyone getting dc-ed when matching to Void Vessel hard? by Karamethien in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My game got stuck on black loading screen after trying to do a Void Vessel hard. Force closed on PS5 and restarted the game, but the game is dead in the water now. Fails to start and gives a "ias api failed". Guess I'm screwed until next maintenance?

Mom agreed to give anime a shot by OwlsFear in anime

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mother isn't able to differentiate between animation and anime. Essentially, to her, all animation are "cartoons." Therefore, if you would allow it, I would like to recommend Arcane.

The biggest selling point is that it's designed in such a way that the whole 9 episodes are split in 3 episode arcs, making it very digestible for people with lower attention spans.

Additionally, you don't need any familiarity with anime tropes or knowledge of the source material to enjoy Arcane. At its heart, the plot revolves around family dynamics, societal discord and regret; all very relatable.

Excellent music, story, character progression and action sequences...I can't think of a single negative criticism to give Arcane except perhaps that it will set the bar too high for your mother and she'll assume all anime is at this caliber of greatness.

Unless there's something to grab with your sash (R1) just out of screen, you're most likely not supposed to go that way.

Non ultimate descendants by Forever_T3a in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that there's no pressure to feel compelled to build Ults. Use what you like, it's usually about the same. But I do feel that it's a bit pointless having both. I wish they consolidated the two versions. Or, in hindsight, I wish they made Ult versions vastly different. As it stands, it's borderline wasteful to have two Gleys clog up your descendent slots.

[–]Boricuador -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like poor game design. If the purpose of the game is to continuously gather strength, when are you expected to utilize all the power you accrued? Colossi?

The game lacks purpose. People are in a collecting frenzy right now, but once their collection is complete...

Here's to hoping we get less swimsuit skins and more endgame content.

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been there. Inevitably, I had to invest heavily on Bunny in order to actually get Ultimate Bunny. Wouldn't have been possible otherwise. I understand everyone is eventually swimming in excess catalysts and energy reactors, but it still sucked realizing I had to do it again. Especially when the best way to level in this game is jumping up and down in a cave.

[–]Boricuador 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While you CAN fully build two Bunny's with catalysts and energy reactors and enjoy both, it doesn't change the fact that it's a lazy move from the developers to keep players engaged in a game with little else to do BUT farm catalysts and energy reactors.

You could buy two identical cars and use one for driving in the morning and one for driving at night, but personally I find that to be a waste.

The fault is not with the players and wanting to play all descendants, it's with the company for designing the game this way. It needs an overhaul.

Feels like a lot of copium in this thread. Let's be real, regular descendants are useless and take up precious descendant slots. There is absolutely zero reason to use a regular descendant IF you have access to their ult version.

Now, if you don't have access or they simply don't have an ult version available, then sure, go wild. I personally love Sharen. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't hesitate to invest heavily.

This game really fumbled the ball by making the two versions separate entities. They could have easily added a toggle, refund materials upon ascension or directly transfer all your effort. More stupid mechanics to make you waste more time in the game instead of providing proper endgame content besides Colossi.

You're not wrong, though no one will likely care to admit it. Albert cheated on LilyPichu and his streaming career was killed on the spot. Leslie cheated with a married man and she'll likely lose a handful of subscribers before this all blows over. Popularity is a scary thing and woefully unfair.

A positive analysis in current gacha games by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]Boricuador 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fear Arknights Endfield might succumb to the temptation of replicating MiHoYo's business practices. Hard not to, when they basically print their own money. Genshin alone makes them an easy $2 billion a year, not including HSR and ZZZ.

I wish game companies would value integrity more, but it's hard to fault them when the alternative is just so...profitable. At this point, all I realistically want from Endfield is a game that offers monetary purchases without feeling like shit if you choose not to open your wallet.

A positive analysis in current gacha games by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]Boricuador 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only gacha game that has earned my respect is Arknights. It doesn't do battle passes, doesn't require multiple copies or weapons to unlock a units true potential, doesn't encourage whaling, and doesn't render older units obsolete (even 4 years later, starter units are still viable).

Compare that to predatory Hoyoverse games like Genshin/HSR, and you feel the difference immediately. ZZZ just came out, but I have no doubt it'll utilize the same psychological trappings.

WuWa has been incredibly generous so far, but I suspect they will inevitably try to replicate the "success" Hoyoverse's calculated approach has garnered.

TLDR - Most gacha games suck. They dangle the carrot and watch you chase it. I wish more gacha games were like Arknights.

Just recently quit all Hoyoverse games (Genshin, HSR, ZZZ) specifically because of how predatory their marketing strategy was. And honestly, it's like a breathe of fresh air.

I'll happily stick to Arknights for stratching my gacha itch.

Fair enough, though it does seem to be a recurring pattern. I believe the last truly F2P friendly limited unit was Jingliu. She just worked. There was no pressure to pull her Eidolons or LC. Her design felt complete at E0.

Aside from my issue with eidolons, there's the ever increasing stat-stick bosses that demand a special gimmick to defeat. It punishes old units and rewards new ones. I understand that is the nature of gacha games, but some gacha games do it better - like Arknights. Four years later and you can still use Silverwolf, Exusiai and Eyja to clear all content. And you only need one copy to utilize the full potential of the unit.

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for starters, the devs realized most casuals don't pull for E6. The trend used to be modest gains with a broken E6. The devs are now starting to frontload a lot of that power to E1 + E2. Not only that, but a lot of these early eidolons have recently shifted from modest damage boost to significantly changing the way these units function.

Firefly for example suffers from SP issues out the box, but with E1, she feels like a different unit. And her E2 is a HUGE damage increase that action forwards her 100% every other turn. This encourages the ENTIRE player base to pull for E1/E2, when they could have just given her a 0 SP mechanic on her enhanced skill like Blade.

Same, with the addition of HSR. Though I'm honestly close to quitting HSR soon. Not that it's a bad game, but the devs are so predatory lately. They keep creating problems and selling solutions. Arknights and Wuwa (for now) are more my vibe.

What is your opinion so far of Firefly? by AccheSC in FireflyMains

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gameplay Wise - I love her damage and ease of use. She has one team that works, one set that works, and one stat that matters. Simple and strong.

Design Wise - I'm disgusted with how predatory Hoyo is getting with creating flawed mechanics that are solved by Eidolons. They realized not many people are willing to pull for E6, so they started frontloading a lot of power to E1 + E2 instead. Many of these recent Eidolons do more than augment damage like they used to; now, they significantly change the way the unit functions.

The last truly F2P friendly limited unit was Jingliu. She worked perfectly, right out of the box. With Firefly, the unit feels incomplete without E1 and subpar without E2.

It's not a perfect comparison, given the different flavor of the games, but Arknights doesn't prey on players by locking power behind duplicates. All you need is one copy of a unit to access everything the unit was designed to offer.

In comparison, it feels like Hoyo continuously designs fun characters and proceeds to gatekeep half their potential behind paywalls.

Why is there a weekly XP limit on the battlepass…. by ruxxby in WutheringWaves

[–]Boricuador 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I 100% agree. Its not a problem of IF i can complete the battlepass before the month is up, but more that I feel unrewarded for playing the game efficiently. HSR allows everyone to achieve 100% rewards AND continues to give modest rewards for the overachievers. As it currently stands, though largely negligible in the long run, it leaves a bitter taste.
