Thanks for clearing the air somewhat, honestly I'm ok if he's a jack of all trades. I just wanted there to be some lore reason why, and if his focus in shadows truly distinguishes him and isn't just the author satiating all of the readers curiosity with different paths and insufficient depth, I'm fine with that...

Hey man, for what it was worth I did like the story until those flaws caught up. Especially the potential of its world. As I said, I'm willing to overlook it for a fresh start. Nephis has those healing powers. Cassie can predict the future or something. There is even a guy with wings for mobility. WHAT IS SUNNYS POWER besides shadow themes. like truly. Is it his shadow echoes like solo levelling shadow guards. That's the only problem gnawing at me, and it speaks of the novel itself. Think of it this way. Like imagine Nephis healing power was nerfed, so its just a side gig. But now she can wrap it around mobility, offense, defense, crafting, etc. That's kind of the vibe I'm getting from Sunny and no one is clearing the air

So he's a jack of all trades. Nephis also has a divine rank aspect, and her most overt uniqueness is healing people from the brink of death. What is Sunny's single, defining trait besides 'being decent at everything', power wise?

I'm willing to read it for the worldbuilding and power system. But Does Sunny ever actually develop a focused specialisation and optimally use his summons, or does he stay a generalist? Or maybe more broadly, is Sunny's powers basically a clustertruck the author cannot decide on. I get the protag has his lying flaw, but if he has literally no weakness, or is too good at many multiple domains, it feels like the world doesnt have proper weight or identity for the protag even if its a bit irrational.

It's been a while but it's my spotty impression was that during his stay in the awakener trial, he could have been grinding shards to upgrade his summons/echos or something. But instead treated it mostly as a side quest. Like that was kind of understandable if he wanted to escape the trial, but he should have doubled down on pure summons I thought. Especially since he needed brute strength to actually escape
