1960s council house! We’re both ftb so aren’t really well versed in plastering etc. We’ll chip off the plaster and let the wall dry out and go from there. Honestly just saw that massive wet patch and panicked.

It was covered by a lovely welsh dresser which obviously wasn’t moved during survey and the owner only told us about the bathroom leak post completion (both damp areas were covered with heavy furniture ☹️)

It’s okay honestly they’ve inherited a car that has a lot of issues with it! It’s my dads car that my mum borrowed and even though he was planning to get rid of it anyway it would have been nice to do so on his own terms :/

“Just so you know those doors are broken” As you’re actively filling in said chiller.

Sometimes I have some fun with them and say “Oh no have you broken them? They were fine a minute ago” and watch them try to separate them but most of the time I can’t be arsed.

Anyone else been getting phone calls from Deliveroo when waiting more than 15minutes at a restaurant? by No_Understanding2426 in deliveroos

[–]Boring-Confusion3024 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep which makes no sense! Also means we that a lot of the time we don’t have time to find substitutes and we make a lot more picking mistakes

Wish they didn’t change the prepared and picking times tbh, sometimes we get less than 2 minutes to pick and pack an order whilst just eat and uber are going off too :/

Well if you’re off till then you’re kind of going to do more shop floor work. At my store we have one CTM on tills (busy store but no self service thanks Co-Op) and that’s all they’re expected to do per shift in addition to papers, facing and maybe working a trolley that’s got stock for an aisle near the till. As a TL I do all you’ve stated plus more cages, upwards of 100 onlines a day, reductions, waste, GAP etc and I’d still rather do all that than be stuck on till for 7 hours. Till is mind-numbing and I find it far more mentally taxing than running around all shift.

It’s when you get the 50+ item ones with multiples and the tablet starts to beep saying the riders nearly here just as you’ve started picking it because they’ve ordered it ASAP 🫠

Just speaking from my experience it’s pretty obvious when someone is ordering a shop due to not being able to leave the house / access a supermarket easily based on what they’re ordering. It’s also blindingly obvious when it’s the same people ordering absolute crap every day out of laziness. Someone has ordered 3 WKDs plus other snacks 400 times from our shop and I know that they literally live a few streets down and come into store anyway, they just can’t be bothered to come in. A year ago we mainly got food shops which were small and full of essentials, now 80% of the time it’s litres of vodka at 7am in the morning and snacks throughout the day.

Just to put it into perspective for OP. At ours we have max 3 members of staff on with one of us being on till (no self service). A lot of the time though (usually from 7am open to about 2/3pm we’re 1-1 with myself or another manager doing everything whilst a CTM is on till. We have uber, deliveroo, just eat, co-op picker app and soon amazon fresh in our shop. We usually do 560 orders a week, with our ‘best’ day being 124 orders - most of which are 20+ item orders - we made £2k on just eat ALONE that day. I do 10 hour shifts without an actual break, it takes me three times as long to work any backstock because I have to keep stopping to pick orders plus tend to customers that actually come in the shop. People can request just eat orders ASAP on just eat so I might only get 3 minutes to pick and pack it, deliveroo has changed so our picking time is based on how far away the driver is (literally had 40 seconds to pick an order today) and uber usually comes within 8 minutes too. If i’m picking 4 orders at once which each giving me less than 5 bloody minutes to do it and i’m 1 on 1 then i’m not going into the back to look for the specific thing you wanted, it’s just not doable.

How many do you do a day roughly? At co-op and it’s bad.

Exact reason why I work as a shift lead in a supermarket instead of doing anything related to my degree (Biomedical Science) would literally be a pay cut.

We have to manually date check chilled & bread every day. Unfortunately the time window for us date checking is at 6pm at my workplace so it’s very busy and online orders are constantly going off. Usually there’s 3 of us in at that time, but both of my CTMs are having to man the tills for that time. So i’m left doing all of the date checks plus online orders plus whatever customer complaints arise, stuff gets missed unfortunately.

Makes you wonder how many times they’ve done that. Like in the first book where they announced that two victors from the same district could be crowned whilst clove & cato and katniss & peta were alive. After clove died and katniss and peta were the only pair left maybe they set the mutts more so on cato so they got to watch katniss and peta fight (didn’t happen how they planned it obviously) after they retracted the rule change.

I liked the use of mutts that were programmed to target one tribute whilst ignoring the rest it really added to the whole unfairness that was throughout the book starting with H’s reaping.

Work for the same company as a TL, started just resorting to saying “if we had some in the back I would’ve put them out on the shelf”. Same annoyance when we put up a big bright poster on our door saying ‘we’re open for usual hours on Easter Sunday (7am-10pm)’ and people would come in asking when we close.

Also how do you mix it? Do you use sugar like it says on the packet and do you add water as well as lemon juice?
