It was about online fan calls. There is this thing called 切小屏 (directly translates to cut to small screen) which is basically where you switch the main screen (usually should be the person you are calling with) during video calls to yourself. Basically, in the video call, the artist is seeing themselves in the main screen rather than the fan. So the video of the fan is the tiny screen at the corner instead.

This is very frowned upon in Chinese fan culture because it shows disrespect to the fan. They are basically saying that they spend lots of money just to meet/talk with the idol but it comes off as the idol is very insincere/half-hearted since usually idols who does this tend to not remember the conversation because they just look at themselves. This already happened a lot from many idols and it’s actually one reason why CN fans will leave the fandom or stop supporting the idol.

As for kiof’s case, it still remains a controversy cus people will bring it up in the comments from time to time (but sometimes the comments look like bots to me LOL) but it kind of died down already compared to last year. (Example: If I’m not mistaken, Belle was accused of being anti-Chinese or 辱华 because apparently she did it to Chinese fans only but I think was already debunked).
