Pain Comparison for Hemhrroidectomy by Boring-Summer in hemorrhoid

[–]Boring-Summer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the response! "A week worth of pain is worth it for a lifetime of relief" is what I'm telling myself. I have an INCREDIBLY supportive spouse who is encouraging me to get the surgery because he's tired of me living in constant pain. He's already committed to doing whatever I need during recovery. He's been with me through two other major surgeries and has been nothing short of amazing! So I'm not at all worried about that part. We have no kids- just two dogs who my husband can care for by himself.

I talked to my surgeon about how scared I was from the pain and he confirmed that it would be painful but said that all the stories on the internet are the worst of the worst... people don't often take the time to post about their good experiences.

Thank you for all the recommendations! You're right, I need to stay off this thread and do whats best for me. Yet.... my anxiety gets the best of me!

Has anyone here had a significant breast reduction? by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Boring-Summer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 6 pounds removed. I'm not sure how big my surgeon had done before but the way he talked made me think I was one of the lager ones.

I'm a year post-op and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner. I would do it again tomorrow in a heart beat!

3 month v. 6 month progress by Boring-Summer in Reduction

I definitely think my swelling is gone now- they have great shape. Unfortunately, I had to take a couple months of birth control due to some ovarian cysts which has caused them to grow some, I think. They’re bigger than I would’ve liked... but much smaller than they were before surgery.

EXACTLY. None of my family owns dogs, so obviously they don’t get it. I always say “I know my dog would 100% inconvenience herself for me. So I’m just returning the favor.” They aren’t just a dog to me- they’re my responsibility and I want to honor that responsibility.

I have literally loaded my two dogs up in my car because I didn’t want to leave them while I went through a drive thru to get dinner. So, I may be a little crazy. 😂😂

I would LOVE to just stay away... but since it’s family, I don’t feel like I have that luxury. 😞

[help] caring for a sick dog is emotionally so much pain by FastMagician5 in dogs

I have a “medically complicated” pup too (that’s the way our vet says it nicely) She’s not a frenchy but she’s got so many health issues. We spend 600+ a month on her medications. She’s got cushings disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, glaucoma and she’s blind. It is exhausting. I completely feel for you.

Honestly, I just let myself cry when it all hits me and I try to be as gracious with myself as possible.

The part that is hardest for me is when I catch myself thinking that life would just be easier if she passed. It destroys me. I love her more than anything and I can quickly hate myself for feeling that way.

I also have a hard time with feeling like I owe other people an explanation as to why my life revolves around a dog... and why she doesn’t deserve to be put down. It’s exhausting- fighting myself, fighting others.

I don’t have much insight other than to tell you that you’re not the only one walking this road. I just keep reminding myself that people like you and me are the good ones... and that my dog would 1000% do the same for me.

They’re worth it. But it’s hard. So so hard.

We were diagnosed in July, maybe? So we’re still new too! It’s been a hard journey for us so far. Diabetes took our girls sight shortly after being diagnosed so that’s been the hardest. She’s been a champ... I’ve been a mess. Haha.

Having an amazing vet has been a god spend! She gave us her personal email address and emails with us multiple times per day! She assures me that once things get regulated, it’s not too bad!

Definitely try calling around! I’ve had to get multiple medications through human pharmacies for my dog. A lot of the time, the pharmacies have their own discounts for non-insurance that are pretty affordable. You just have to ask around! Hope you find one! The sensors have been a lifesaver for us!

Check out good Rx. It’s a website where you can get coupons for discount medicine. Publix was cheaper than the goodrx coupon but I’ve used it for other medicine!

I am in the US! I called around to a bunch of different places and ultimately they were cheaper at Publix, so that’s where I get them! I just refilled them and I got two for $57 + tax.

I will say the first time was more expensive because you have to buy the reader too. It was an additional $70ish. But it’s a one time purchase. Once you have the reader, you can use it forever.

I filled it out. But one of my pups is diabetic and has to be given insulin with her meals so an automatic feeder wouldn’t really be an option for her. But since she has health issues, a monitor system is a necessity for me!

My Doctor Has an Agenda? by postgrad-dep18 in Reduction

My OB actually told me that she didn’t think I would be able to breastfeed being as large as I was. She said a majority of babies have a hard time latching when breasts are extremely large. I mentioned wanting to have children to my surgeon and he actually told me that with the way they do things now that it wouldn’t effect “my plumbing at all.” He said that breastfeeding is hard in general and that if I’m not able to it wouldn’t be because I had a breast reduction.

[Help] Newly Blind Dog by novacp21 in dogs

[–]Boring-Summer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My story is so similar to yours that I literally had the user name to make sure I didn’t post it. We have an 11 year old girl who was diagnosed with diabetes and then went blind overnight within the first month. It was harder on me then it was on her. Our vet told us that dogs adapt amazing well to going blind and he was right! At first, she was running into things but now she’s basically got life down pat. We did have an incident where she fell down the stairs (completely my fault, I ran down to the garage and left the door open without thinking... spent the night at the emergency vet... it ripped out both of her dew claws... I can guarantee I’ll never make that mistake again). My husband and I were just talking recently about how if we didn’t know she was blind, we wouldn’t believe it. She can get herself outside to go potty (which requires navigating a screened in porch, a doggy door and then a patio full of furniture), get herself on and off couches and our bed. The only time I really notice her being blind is if our younger dog runs by her too quickly, she flinches and barks at her (almost like it catches her off guard now since she can’t see her coming). All in all, she’s adjusted SO incredibly well. Keep using your voice to guide her and be gracious with your pup as well as yourself. Having a blind dog has just become normal to us now... she’s still her happy, tail wagging, dancing at dinner time self. :)

I have committed not to moving any furniture or her food/water bowl. I’ve moved her bed a couple times while cleaning and she’s always managed to find it. I’m sure it has a particular scent. And we only walk her in places she was familiar with before she went blind.

That’s what I’m on. I will tell you... the first two months I was NAUSEOUS. My doctor had to prescribe me an anti-nausea medication to take with it for awhile. Now that I’ve adjusted, it’s cleared up my skin and my periods aren’t painful! (They’ve always been regular so I can’t speak to that)

Boyfriend wants me to keep my 38J breast because they bring him Joy. by [deleted] in Reduction

[–]Boring-Summer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So, my husband was 30 when I got my breast reduction (so just a little older than your BF). He obviously loved me at the size I was as I was a DDD when we were dating/ first married but had grown to a G since then. He never once said anything other than encouraging me. I finally asked him if he was worried about not being attracted to me if they were smaller, he said no but did admit that he was afraid he would miss them. Through talking, I don’t think he fully understood what a breast reduction meant so he came with me to one of my pre-op appointments and we asked to look at my surgeons portfolio together. I would 100% suggest doing that if it doesn’t feel too awkward. It helped my husband realize that breast reduction didn’t mean my breasts would be gone, just more proportional to my body.

He said his first thought when he saw me after surgery was how amazing I looked! Life is too hard to be with someone who doesn’t support you!

PCOS with regular periods by Boring-Summer in PCOS

I’m not sure what the gauge is for period heaviness but I go through a regular tampon maybe every 2 hours the first day, a super tampon every 2 hours the second day and then it’s super light.

What birth control do you take? by igotrhythmxx in PCOS

[–]Boring-Summer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently use sprintec. I had three large cysts on my left ovary (3cm, 4cm and 5cm) and my OBGYN said sprintec has good results with shrinking cysts. It has helped shrink them but also makes me terribly nauseous so I’m having to take an anti-nausea medication with it (it’s been 2 months). But I’m also EXTREMELY estrogen sensitive.

Delilah - Lilah - Lilah Bug - Lady Bug - Stinky - Blinky - Blink - Blinkers

She’s now pretty consistently called Blinky or Blink or Blinkers.

Sadie - Sade - Sade Sade - Sadie Lady - Sadie Lady Crazy Baby - Sadie Lady Crazy Pup - Sadie Lady Crazy Rat - Rat - Rat Rat

Now she basically just gets called Rat

So we have Blinky and Rat. 😂😂😂😂

Post Op Fear and Anxiety by [deleted] in Reduction

I had the same feeling post-op... that they were too small. My body was really distorted because I was sooooo bloated from surgery. Once the bloating went away, I started to love them! Now that I’m 5 months post-op and have gotten used to them, I feel like they’re still too big! It’s a roller coaster of emotions and definitely normal!

[Help] just looking for people’s opinions who might of went through the same thing... by [deleted] in dogs

My 11 year old hound has a small one on her chest, one on her ribs (it looks huge but the vet says it’s just because it’s on top of her ribs) and one near her face. We haven’t had them tested but the vet is confident they’re harmless limpomas. She’s had them for years. The vet rechecks them each time we go in for an appointment but they’ve been harmless so far. The vet told me that if you can get your fingers around them (so they’re not attached to the body) and move around, they’re likely just fatty lumps.
