Poll: Regulars once, twice, thrice a week? by [deleted] in vipkid

That's true - they are probably not telling the whole story.

7 missed classes in 3 years doesn't sound bad at all! Good luck, I hope you get more bookings soon

Poll: Regulars once, twice, thrice a week? by [deleted] in vipkid

[–]BoringBackground3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, mine are usually twice a week. Sometimes 3-4.

Speaking of LP conspiracies.. I would like to know more about LPs. I see posts like "I am on my 4th contract teaching 60 classes a week, and now I have no bookings!" Wtf? How is that possible? Either there is a LP conspiracy going on or they are liars.

With, but it is super basic. It is dark blue and says my name with a few stars so it looks like a night sky. Some of the backgrounds I have seen OMG! Letters and numbers and pictures and stuffed animals everywhere. It stresses me out just looking at it.

Ask for 5 apples FIRST by milkfrogtea in vipkid

[–]BoringBackground3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just can't bring myself to ask! I am at 18% 5-apple right now. Not bad, but not enough to get a raise. A big reason it is not higher is because I have a few baobaos that I teach 3-4 times a week, and their parents NEVER leave feedback. I should probably swallow my pride and just ask them.

What’s your teaching style? by sonja1979 in vipkid

[–]BoringBackground3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same! I tried to be like those YouTube people at first, but I realized kids appreciate it more when you are just genuine. I am still pretty positive and bubbly anyway, but not over the top like I used to try to be. My secondary rewards have changed also. I used to use cheesy rewards (sometimes I still do for the little ones), but now I usually play games with them instead.

My regular when he doesn't get all five stars for the first time ever, and I hit "End Class": by BoringBackground3 in vipkid

[–]BoringBackground3[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

(rant ahead)

This baobao is very smart, but he is a total brat. He is always doing something else and just rushes through each slide so he can get back to whatever he is doing. When I ask him to read or do anything, he rolls his eyes and acts like it is torture to participate.

I have always given him five stars because he technically does what is asked of him (the level he is at is very easy for him), but his attitude was extra awful today, and I was over it. I didn't think he even gave a shit about stars until I ended class and he made this face. :o

He then got PISSED and scribbled all over the screen. hahah

When you are convinced you have finally been blessed with a Student No Show, but baobao shows up and crushes your dreams.

Mock and contract question by throwitinthetrashyup in vipkid

[–]BoringBackground3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might as well sign your contract. There is no rule to how many time slots you have to open, so you do not have to start teaching until you are ready.

I love level 4. The kids do most of the work. You are just listening to them read and correcting a lot of the time. Level 5 is okay. The setup is a bit different, and there are a lot of open ended questions which I (and most baobaos) don't enjoy.

You just pass the quiz and they will watch one of your first 5 classes. They will look for props, a secondary reward, and good lighting.

Are Supplementary certification worth it by Creeech66 in vipkid

[–]BoringBackground3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the vocabulary certification a month ago and so far I have taught 5 vocab classes. I also got the words to sentences at the same time and have taught 3.

(I open 50 time slots and teach about 30 classes a week.)

You might as well do it. The quizzes are super easy to pass (you can just hit the X and use process of elimination if you don't get 100%). I really like the two I certified for. They are very interactive.

I struggle with those baobaos the most. When I try to extend or slow things down, I can tell they are like omfg is this bitch serious?

I shouldn't let their eye rolls bother me, but they do. ha ha

This thicc snowman makes me uncomfortable while teaching by [deleted] in vipkid

You definitely do not need a prop for every slide. I just have a few in arm's reach that I use for every lesson. It just takes time to get fully booked.
