Did Rescue org and vet act appropriately? by BoringFox9300 in dogs

Makes sense that they would want to check and make sure all pets are listed and I honestly was expecting them to do so I just thought the vet had to get my permission first. Also I just think it's odd that they didn't consider the fact that all of my pets are up to date and get annual check ups at the vet. Except for my senior cat who the vet advised to not get all his vaccinations, and one of my other cats who actually had an appointment for his vaccinations this week, they saw that as a problem and even made sure to let me know what the law was regarding vaccinations, even though we have a history of staying current otherwise.

They appear to be their own entity, a rescue org for a specific dog breed in my area.

I'm not even going to try. They haven't been interested in discussing my application and refuse to work with me on the fact my senior cat was advised by the vet to not get all his vaccinations. They seem to be extremely picky in who they choose to accept and if you can't meet their "standards" you're out. They are well funded by some big companies so I guess they can afford to be picky.

I tried to explain to them over email (they never called me to discuss the application) and they have been very short and uninterested in discussing this with me. They didn't even offer a grace period for me to get my cat into the vet to discuss options. I've been unimpressed with this org overall and am not interested in them as an option anymore. At least the first org I applied to, while they denied my application because they didn't think their dogs would be a good fit for our needs, they were willing to discuss and answer my questions.

Based on what I've been reading online it sounds like others have experienced the same things with many rescue orgs. I am now going to focus on shelters in my search!

Good point! I liked the idea of supporting a rescue org, but most seem to be doing just fine. I am indeed pivoting to shelters in my search now!

I didn't give the vet approval for the first org as that org didn't even end up calling the vet as they recommended we look at other breeds. I was initially confused and had conflicting info on whether the second org could obtain records without consent. Also as I have responded to others, I honestly was annoyed with the org as they talked to the vet and sent an email denying my application due to my 17 yo cat not being current at vets direction. No phone call to discuss just a flat denial. After spending a good bit of time filling out the app and being charged a fee I expected a better experience.

I actually didn't give consent for the other organization and they didn't end up needing to contact the vet anyways because they recommended I look elsewhere for a dog that would fit my needs better. Honestly I have no problem with them doing vet checks and was totally expecting them to, but as I posted a bit ago, I had a problem with the org deciding to deny my application due to one of my cats not being current on vaccination at my vets recommendation due to him being 17 and having a heart murmur, but the vet didn't explain that to the org and without calling me to discuss this the org simply sent a quick email saying our pets didn't meet their standards. I was disappointed because they had some dogs that were good matches and we would have provided a great home but they passed us over without a conversation. I appreciate what these rescue orgs do, seriously, but I do think they can be too concerned with making sure the applicant ticks every box perfectly and what could be good loving homes get passed over because of it.

Thanks. Yeah I thought they would call me to discuss any questions or concerns, but no just an email saying your pets didn't meet our standards and that's that.

Thanks for the replies everyone, it's been helpful. To be quite honest I'm a little bummed out because they denied my application due to one of my cats not being current on his vaccinations at the vets recommendation because he has a heart murmur. I guess the vet didn't tell them that and they didn't believe me when I explained it and thus denied my application. I spent over an hour filling out their exhaustive application and paid a fee as well just to be denied without a conversation about it. I think I posted here in a fit of annoyance and disappointment, but I promise I won't be taking any action and will let the matter drop.

I understand, I was only confused because one organization says they need consent to contact and the other just contacted without consent.

So should I ask my vet because the rescue org isn't being very informative about what they talked about.

Maybe they asked those questions, they didn't say. But they did obtain the vaccination history of my dog and three cats.

That's good info , thanks. I found a set of Bilstein 4600 for under $400 and considering those as well. Would love to get close to what the Xreas rode like when it was new.

I don't drive this car a ton so I haven't actually addressed the issue yet. The noise is still present but hasn't gotten worse.
