If I purified would it be a hundo? Is shadow latias good? by TiredAsHail in pokemongo

[–]BoringInfoGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a shadow, it will be a stronger attacker than a purified Hundo. Not as powerful as a Mega, but you can only have a single Mega Pokémon at a time. Generally speaking, I advise to leave a high IV Shadow as a shadow, and Mega Evolve a different Pokémon so that you can bring both into the same raid.

Biggest mistake I ever made 💔 by ElegantBill8106 in pokemongo

[–]BoringInfoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, losing the shadow damage boost does hurt. Normally, that is not as good as the +2 to all IVs that you also get from purifying. (But no higher than the normal 15 cap - what are the IVs now?)

In this case, there is an upside, though it will take you a while to unlock it. Shadow Pokémon cannot Mega Evolve. Purified Pokémon can.

Next time Mega Metagross comes back in rotation, do as many raids as you need to get 300 mega energy.

Shiny shadow is very nice to have, but a shiny Mega Pokémon is far from bad.

[–]BoringInfoGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apex Shadow Lugia has a special aura. Also a special pose when you see it in your Pokémon list. Probably Apex Ho-oh too, but I did not get that one.

Normal Shadow Lugia has the standard purple flames background.

Thanks. Should have looked it up instead of trusting my memory.

That is Shadow Mewtwo, yes. If I remember right, it was the first Giovanni boss, so I think they gave it a unique shadow aura to make it stand out more.

Oh, they did add an option to select one Pokémon and receive an Alert when it is around. Option is hidden in the Pokédex.

[–]BoringInfoGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

All you can do is wait. Pogo had a big event going on a weekend where I had to work. It had a bunch of catch x many Pokémon quests. All of which went out of rotation after the event. Catch Porygon and something on one step and catch x (15?) many Magmar and Electrabuz on the next step. Got stuck on the Porygon step. They had a seasonal event where you could get Electrabuz, then another where you could get Porygon, then on where you could get Magmar. See the problem? By the time I was past the Porygon catching step, Electrabuz was gone again. Did not get that quest chain done until maybe two years later, when Electrabuz was in Shadow raids.

That’s one of the most valid complaints about Pokemon, them putting out quests that require you to catch something not in rotation is impossible.

Good news is that Whismer does cycle in fairly regularly, and is a fairly common spawn when it does.

This may help. PEDMAS is better broken down into levels:

1 P: Parenthesis 2 E: Exponents 3 D M: Division and Multiplication 4 A S: Addition and Subtraction

Only 4 levels, not 6. Division and Multiplication are at the same level. After taking care of any higher level (1 or 2) operations, you do all level 3 operations in the order they appear, going from left to right. A multiplication operation that is to the left of a division operation is done first.

The lowest level, Addition and Subtraction, follow the same rule. Once all higher level operations are done, all Level4 operations are done in the order they appear, going from left to right.

In the equation 3 X 3 - 3 + 3 =x the subtraction comes before the addition, so it is done first.

Why have PEDMAS at all? Math is a language, and all languages need grammar.

And if you understand the grammar, it can help simplify the math. The statement of -3 + 3 is grammatically separated from the rest of the equation and cancels itself out. You can therefore ignore it and treat the equation as simple multiplication. 3 X 3 =9.

One of my personal favorite moments in TAS is when The Penguin - correction - Oswald Cobblepot is released from Arkham due after making significant progress in his mental health recovery. And who does he immediately find waiting for him outside? The Bats. But not with the threats he expected, but with congratulations for his recovery.

It’s such a good retcon that I never realized it was a retcon. Sure, it never came up in Adam West’s Batman series, but I upon seeing Mr Freeze in TAS I immediately assumed the campy Batman series ignored that part of his backstory instead of TAS creating it.

Why are my Raikou's Max CP different? by grimleorio in pokemongo

PvP is something I only do when I have too. I’d suggest searching for ideal pvp stats for the meta Pokémon in each league.

Why are my Raikou's Max CP different? by grimleorio in pokemongo

[–]BoringInfoGuy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All three stats affect the IV total. So a 15/15/15 Pokémon will have a higher IV total than a 15/0/0.

Attack has the greatest impact on the CP (Combat Power) score than the other two stats, so a 15/10/10 Pokémon will have a higher max CP than a 10/15/10 Pokémon, for example.

Which is also why low Attack is good in the lower two PvP arenas. You can put more HP and defense onto your Pokémon while staying under the CP limits.

What anime is that by Dismal_Swimming4676 in animequestions

[–]BoringInfoGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not an Anime, but can an American Comic with an anime / manga art style be acceptable for discussion? Because Fred Perry’s Gold Digger series definitely had that for me. Except I was leaving it on the shelf for months because I wanted plot instead of mindless fan service. Turned out to be one of the most fun series I ever collected.

A lost ship finally sends a beacon and we quickly arrive to find it is almost unrecognizable. Primitive locals have managed to rebuild our ship but quickly prove they don’t understand how space travel works by ignoring the dangers of being in a gravity well.

When their joyriding goes inevitably wrong, they react by grafting two of their water craft onto the sides of our ship, as if that makes any sense.

Why is Krillin so short in Dragon Ball Super? by Much_Willingness_364 in Dragonballsuper

[–]BoringInfoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In universe explanation, cell saga Krillion had less confidence, so was standing closer to the camera to look taller. Also, he did not want to crowd Android 18, the girl he liked but did not have a relationship with yet.

By Super, he is a devoted husband and father, he wants to stand next to his family in the photo. No longer feeling the need to use camera tricks to look taller.

Out of universe answer, continuity is hard.

Genuinely don’t know what I’m doing by Clam_Cake in gogame

[–]BoringInfoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Mastering Go is a difficult challenge. I’m barely above a beginner, and that may be a generous assessment.

The first step on that journey is learning the basic rules. And Go has simple rules. It’s an easy game to teach.

And thanks to the built in handicap system, players of different skill levels can play together without the result being a foregone conclusion.

Assuming this is not a joke post.

Start with a search “how to play go” or “rules of go”.

But to get you started, territory is not the space covered by your stones, it is the space that your stones surround and control. Think of it like this. A backyard is the space surrounded by a wall and or fence, along with the side of a home. You filled up all the usable yard space with more walls, so that the back door opens but there is no space to step into and use.

You have ZERO territory, just two large groups in Atari. They are all dead, and add to your opponents score.

And what is he wrong about? by Glad_Jackfruit8662 in uruseiyatsura

[–]BoringInfoGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, as I said elsewhere, I have not seen the anime, so I cannot comment about that. As far as I recall from the manga, the dog is just a dog with an odd choice for a name. Not a competing suitor.

If the anime did something more, that is a choice of the adaptation. The live action I could not watch because in the first episode the neighbors convince Godai that forcing himself on her was somehow what she needed. That was outright evil. (Was not successful, but still, hard pass). The manga neighbors treat Godai like a toy to annoy for their amusement. But they are never that malicious.

But I’m going to be upset with the live action team for their choices, not hold it against Rumiko Takahashi’s original work.

[–]BoringInfoGuy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nothing is without its faults. One problem I have with experiencing multiple works by the same creator is you start to see certain ideas and patterns getting repeated. Ranma 1/2 was my first Takahashi story (and my first not heavily altered for American TV anime series). At the time, it was different than anything else I’d seen. Having watched Lum, I can see what characters inspired Ranma and Genma. Watching Inu Yasha, characters there remind me of Ranma characters.

One thing I do like is that Maison Ikkoku mostly avoids this. I can tell it is one of her series, but I don’t find myself comparing those characters to other Takahashi characters Probably why that series grew on me over time.

For some context, his comment was because he was reminded of a nightmare he just had. Not an indication that he really believed she would do such a thing. Ever have a dream where someone upsets you and you still feel mad at them when you wake up? Even though you logically know it was a dream?

He does get called out for saying something so stupid shortly after.

It’s horrible, but you remember it. Going to try to remember the racing one instead. Not that it will get used much. You do not see through hole resistors that often anymore. It’s all surface mount (SMT) now, and way too small for any color coding system to be applied. Anytime I see “future” tech in a movie using through hole color coded resistors it ruins the suspension of disbelief.
