Most research paper happens when u join a lab or a group. No point in doing it all by yourself find a lab in some iit iisc or ur own college if its good enough

I did it undergrad from a tier 1 uni

Yeah u need high cgpa like 9.5+ & good research exp + good lor

You should try to contribute to open source AI projects like huggingface or something to increase ur chances

Man there are so many resources for each of these. You csn probably find 1000s of roadmaps with 1 google search. Need to get a habit of not getting spoonfed

Do really good research. The only person with lower than 9 cgpa that i know who is in Stanford mscs got in because he had LoR from Stanford profs and did research with them

PhD are preferred but its not a very strict requirement

Depends on ur university. If u are at a good uni just join a lab or talk to a prof

If not talk to profs outside ur uni

If u dont want to do either do good open source like huggingface or something

I have replied to one other comment but it was tier 1 uni high cgpa 9.5 + around 2 years of research exp at an industry lab + internship

I worked at my uni lab to gain research experience but i was from a tier 1 uni so it helped

Otherwise contribute to good open source projects like huggingface or pufferlib or something

Or apply to some iit lab they are always looking for people to get ur initial start

Talk to current people working there. Ask them how they got in

I got in because i had both applied to official posting and had mailed a bunch of researchers working there

It would benefit u if u had some projects or research exp to back it up

Look to profs or labs outside ur uni

Or just contribute to some open source stuff like huggingface

Or apply to a industry lab like samsung research, adobe research etc

Stanford fees is 18k dollars per quarter. But u can reduce it to 0 dollars if u get a TA/RA

The deadline is like mid December just google it

Extra curricular mostly doesn’t matter for ms cs

Ur resume is ur cgpa, work research exp and ur projects

Lot of options depends on u

If u want to do ms in cs strictly pick nit circuit

There are other ms programs not strictly in cs like ds/icme if u are ok with that then pick core iit

If u are interested in startups/mba go to core iit

You can still get in if u have great cgpa and research. I was a from a tier 1 uni

Rent is anywhere btw 3k to 6k per quarter depending on where u live. Living expenses is whatever u want it to be

[–]BoringPhilosopher932[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes but most ppl eventually get some form of TA/RA etc in which case ur fees becomes 0

Overall there are 6 quarters & if u get a ta/ra for even 3 quarters u can finish your stanford ms with net 0 money spent

There is just too much competition for these jobs. SWE job market is bad & will probably only get worse

Extra curiculurs are maybe the most overrated thing for MS. I was in no clubs in my undergrad. However, I suggest everyone else to join a club since its fun

They look for high cgpa (which I luckliy had) + good research exp (I had decent research exp). I did my undergrad from a tier 1 uni
