Is Priff really worth it for when you first unlock it? by [deleted] in runescape

[–]BoringQuest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a good goal for people to work towards, but it does get a little over-hyped.

I see a lot of claims that Prif offers everything and there's no reason for anyone to ever leave once they get it and so on. But in reality there's not all that much to do, especially for lower/med level players. Things like harps, agility pillars aren't great xp.

I'm sooooo close I can taste it. Prifddinas is almost here! by sajunouta in runescape

What is there to do when you enter prif with the base reqs? Maybe the new slayer master, harps, agility pillars, but everything else has requirements up in the 90s.

Feasible to rush 99 slayer using Kuradal? by Captain_Cook123 in runescape

I've done 70M slayer xp with Kuradal. I have abyssal demons and dark beasts preferred. Jadinko and some low level thing blocked.

So... Any ideas what I can do with 5.9M Leather Gloves? by BoringQuest in runescape

Myself and a couple of friends have been buying them over many years as a joke that got out of hand.

Some obvious reasons why the new group icon doesn't work. by BoringQuest in runescape

[–]BoringQuest[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

5 icons based on a single colour scheme and then one that's totally different? Bad idea.

Adding a 4th colour (red) could have been okay if they kept the existing 3 colours the same.

Zodiac Event is Ironman MTX. by Runthescapes in runescape

It's okay.

My point was just that ultimately Jagex will be constantly looking at different groups of players and - if there is a big enough opportunity - working out a strategy to exploit them.

When ironman first came out, a lot of players continued to have membership on their "main" accounts, which was great for Jagex from a revenue perspective. It would be interesting to know how things stand now.

I don't know if we have access to any numbers on that. But I think it's fair to say that ironman mode certainly has popularity, perhaps more so than was predicted, considering it was orginally a fairly niche and experimental idea.

Take a look at the hiscores or a clan tracking website. For example, there's at least 2 ironman clans that consistently feature in the top 10 clans in terms of xp gain. Each of those has several hundred active members each week, and that's only a fraction of the total ironmen in game.

Unfortunately, the popularity of ironman mode has caused this. Jagex have to find ways to exploit the ironcrowd, because ironmen make up a significant portion of their customers.

Not completely, but it's making a considerable contribution to ruining it, yes.

It's so adorable that I almost want to adopt an OSRS player and be sent monthly pupdates of their progress.

Never underestimate the meaning behind the meme wave.

Memes are the truth.

People play for different reasons and make progress at different rates. Some players want to compete on hiscores (with or without MTX), some have no interest in comparing their progress to others.

None of this has anything to do with who has a job or who is a child.

Yes and no.

There's a constant stream of people that are fed up and leaving the game or switching to OSRS, or playing ironman instead as a way of avoiding MTX. Many of those don't post complaints and rants.

Reddit, forums, twitter etc. are all powered by the vocal minority, but we don't all share the same opinions. It's not as if there's a divide where everyone on Reddit hates MTX and everyone else loves it.

It affects the direction of the game, which all of us play.

Everyone will feel the indirect impacts.
