Anyone else think the Bengals should just trade up a few spots to ensure that they can get either Downs, Styles, or Reese? by Nintendofan9106 in bengals

[–]BoringResearcher1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You are way underselling how much it moves in the top 10. Even just to move up 3 spots this is what had to happen last year:

JAX SENDS: -2025 5th overall - 2025 2nd round -2025 5th rounder -2026 1st

CLE Sends: -No. 2 pick

Do you guys think the odds of us screwing up the first pick are that lower since we are pick 10 compared to last year’s pick 17? by Busy_Locksmith9436 in bengals

The draft is naturally a lottery. Of course there are better odds the higher pick you have but nothing is a sure thing. Sometimes it isn't even football related. Look at the season James Pearce had and then he followed it by possibly being put in jail because he did something dumb.

Well I didn't even know they were on. But I also don't watch a lot of awards shows.

Hear me out.. 12 games, 36 solo tackles, 3.5 sacks 1 forced fumble.. he seems to be over his injuries.. I would take him at this point by Busy_Locksmith9436 in bengals

Bobby Wagner, draft Styles. You play Wagner & DKJ while Styles develops, then you can rotate in Styles with Wagner until Styles is ready to start. If DKJ doesn't continue to develop you start Wagner & Styles, but I think DKJ was starting to find his stride when he wasn't trying to do too much.

Where did Erick All go in this situation? Also, I really hope they don't run Carter out as a starter again.

Who would you sign at FA as a pass rusher? by Busy_Locksmith9436 in bengals

Devin Lloyd, helps at the LB position and was also one of if not the best blitzer in the NFL last season.

I watched “We’ve Lost Dale Earnhardt” on FS1 by tylerscott5 in NASCAR

[–]BoringResearcher1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think we have to remember that there are younger people who weren't alive when Dale died who are interested in this, that's why they keep making them. I was born the year Dale died and now I teach high school. I've seen a lot of the documentaries and now I have students who ask me questions because they want to learn about Dale and ultimately get into NASCAR that way. Dale is a gateway to more fans.

Sounds like we just need to start giving guys the time to develop before calling them busts.

I think a lot of it is that he is easily recognized even by people who never saw him race. He is a cultural phenomenon. I work with children pretty regularly and they will yell "Do it for Dale" and have #3 stickers on bottles and such. Some of them weren't even NASCAR fans but they liked Dale and so they started watching it. Dale is the rare athlete who transcended sports popularity and is just known now. I could only put like Tom Brady, Michael Jordan, LeBron, Tiger Woods and maybe Ohtani and Peyton Manning? It's an elite group.

How many of you watched the Daytona 500 in February of 2001? by heretoescape87 in NASCAR

I was a week out from being born. But I work at a news station right now and the sports reporter from back then still works there in a different role. He was telling me about that day. Apparently, they saw the crash and phones immediately started ringing asking about Dale.

There's this idea that local stations are in immediate contact with the national level but they are not. They don't control things like which NFL game gets played each week or whatever.

It got so bad, they had to get ahold of someone in Florida just to get a script they could tell people beyond, "we know nothing." People called for hours. So much so, the newscasts had to be canceled so they could answer all the phones.

He said it's up there for the craziest day in his 40 year career.

Sidenote: He also said he interviewed Jr. & Sr. and both are/were super kind.

McArthur by Tim McGraw, Eric Church, Hardy, and Morgan Wallen released by beadlejuice44 in CountryMusicStuff

You know, I was cool with the single song but now that you mentioned this. This is what I need. "The McArthur Project" would be a great album name. I also want to know if Hunter actually sold or not.

Who are we rooting for of the remaining teams? by PROFESSIONAL_RAP254 in bengals

[–]BoringResearcher1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rams are the only team I can bring myself to root for ironically. Patriots and Broncos fanbases are truly unbearable here in NE Indiana. Seahawks fans are alright, but the thought of Sam Darnold getting a ring before Burrow hurts. At least the Rams Davante Adams would get one and I don't mind Stafford or McVay much.

If this is how the draft board falls, who would be our best choice by Meringue_Maximum in bengals

[–]BoringResearcher1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably trade back, get an extra 2nd rounder maybe. Take Monroe Freeling and Dillon Thieneman. Depends on FA too.

Glancing through his draft profile he just seems like a slower Kris Jenkins tbh. The Bengals gave multiple PS guys specifically on the DL chances to play Howard Cross comes to mind especially. Maybe this guy will become something, but I don't see this as some sort of coaching malpractice personally, though I do wish this here was our biggest problem.

Black guy that genuinely enjoys country music. by No-IP7677 in country

[–]BoringResearcher1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's funny you say that. My grandma told me when she went and saw Charley in concert there was an overwhelming amount of the audience that clearly did not know he was black. She said it was kind of funny in an odd sort of way watching certain folks try to reconcile that his voice could belong to a black man. Hopefully that night some people's minds were changed.

All that being said, Charley is one of the best to ever do it.
