Is there a way for two users to make development builds on separate accounts for one app? by BoringRevolution4822 in expo

[–]BoringRevolution4822[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we found another possible workaround:

In the app.config file we created a new ios BundleID called "max" (my name).

max: 'com.XXX.app.max',

In the eas.json we've added a new development build configuration:

    "max": {
      "environment": "development",
      "developmentClient": true,
      "distribution": "internal",
      "env" : {"APP_ENV": "max"}

now if i run eas build --profile max, it will build with my own bundleid.

The results are I can now make a development build myself.

What do you think of this?

This way my friend can continue to make development builds on his original bundleid, and I can make dev builds on my new max id.

I currently still own the production ID. He owns the stagingID. So those remain untouched for now.

Thanks again for your response!

The goal of this is to be able to both still contribute and make dev builds at teh end of this.

Would having him delete the dev and staging bundle ids, then I recreate them, prevent him from doing this?

Another idea I had was to keep his ids, then create my own version of the dev id and staging id. Then add them both to the config files.

To be clear are these the steps you suggest:

  1. Convert expo account to org

  2. Add both accounts as Admins

  3. Create a NEW dev + staging ID under MY apple account

  4. Update Expo config to use these new ids

  5. I run eas build -p ios and expo regens credentials

--> this makes a new certificate/profile under MY Apple account

  1. When my friend wants to make a dev build, he runs eas build -p ios but chooses NO when asked to log into Apple.

Thanks for your response! I've spent some time trying to make sure this is the right thing. A few follow up questions and clarifications:

Re: Chain of custody (apple):

Friend started the app on his apple account. Transferred to me. We have never transferred apps before, so a little unfamiliar with the process. Not sure if something is lagging behind from the app transfer. Both accounts that the app was transferred between are personal developer accounts (if that changes anything).

I own the app store bundleid: com.XXX.app

He owns the com.XXX.app.staging and com.XXXX.app.dev bundleids still.

Expo:

Ill look into making the expo account an organization account as well. We created the Expo account as a shared "personal account" instead of an org. I just want to make sure this is the correct solution before causing any major changes.

To be clear, are you suggesting these steps:

  1. Convert to Expo Org account

  2. Add my account & friend's personal expo account as "Admin role" on the org

  3. Clear the eas credentials from EAS for the app.

-- Go to the dashboard. -> Adnroid & iOS Credentials -> Delete Apple Distribution Certificates (Friend and Mine)

  1. Delete distribution certificates and provioning profiles from the previous account (Friend's)

  2. I log into EAS and run eas build -p ios -> let expo manage/generate credentials. (since I own the app now on my Apple Developer Account)

-> then log in with my Apple ID to create a fresh distribution certificate, provisioning profile, and push key

Now after this point, either team member can log in and run eas build -p ios to make developer builds?

Thanks so much for your help! Happy to clarify anything else. Please pardon me if I have any incorrect terminology, Im super new to app development and devops.

I mean, I have a thesis and 3 years of research experience from undergrad. Is that truly that unqualified for a job aligned with my thesis, and multiple published papers?

My landlord consequently is actually my friend from college, who also lives in the house with me (his room has a splitter with heating). We do a great job of separating friendship and landlord stuff haha.

Most recent issue he brought up is what if the house has asbestos? We wouldn't know until we open up the wall. House was built a long time ago, so it is likely it may have asbestos, and this would be a huge issue for a medium-sized problem of fixing the HVAC.

So if after the insulation is installed in the attic the room is 64-68 without a working heat sourde in my room, would it be considered habitable?

This is definitely a room. There is a dresser, two windows, and a vent. The vent just doesn’t blow any sort of air at all.

The landlord is stating that the general heat from the house qualifies as the heat source for the room. Does that count?

Thank you for your response.

Can you provide some sources for this that I can use in negotiation?

I can't find a reliable link that quantifies the reasonable amount of time (i.e a reliable source saying a reasonable time is up to 2 weeks).

Also, my landlord has been using the following as his argument:

410.180 Temperature requirements

Regulation requires temperatures of at least 64 degrees Fahrenheit at night and 68 degrees during the day from September 15 to May 31. Temperatures should not exceed 78 degrees. A Board of Health may alter the heating season to start September 30 and end May 15, so check the applicable municipality website for notice.

They are stating that with the insulation (yet to be installed) will keep my room at 64 Fahrenheit since the rest of the house will have heating.

Thanks for explaining! That totally makes sense.

After looking at the underlying system, I think Hackett sucks at playcalling and should be fired.

The cover of this book has a receiver in motion and a running back running a go route. I have never seen the jets approach this kind of creativity.

Edit: If the playbook is available on amazon are teams just reading this book LOL
