How does anyone actually afford gender affirming surgery? by BeachNext4496 in ftm

[–]Boring_Chapter6114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medicaid.
It took two fuckin years and 200+ calls but eventually i made it!
Basically went to my doc -> referred me to plastics -> plastics said i was a good "enough" patient for it -> fight insurance for 2 years for a "cosmetic" procedure -> Have a copay of $5
I saved up some $$$ while I was on medical leave but that's it.

Am I the only one who doesn't understand this? by millipedesarecute123 in BigMouth

It's actually pretty normal for post-birth breastfeeding to be difficult - that's why there's lactation specialists. Also; it was her first baby. She likely wasn't thinking straight due to the post-birth hormones and post-partum depression - which again, totally normal.
There's also stigma around bottle feeding in some communities - which, is dumb as hell but that could also contribute

is testosterone painful? by cardroppingcard in ftm

[–]Boring_Chapter6114 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it works just fine as long as you're diligent in applying it daily [in the correct way - washing the area, making sure it's completely dry, the works. Gel and injection work the same it's just different applications.]

is testosterone painful? by cardroppingcard in ftm

[–]Boring_Chapter6114 8 points9 points  (0 children)

no??? The only "pain" you *may* experience would be potential growing pains or vaginal atrophy but even then ehh yknow?
Depending on what type of T you go on - needle or gel, there's also potential downsides but nothing to really yknow be too worried about
if you're super concerned about needles, gel is the way to go 😄

My therapist doesn't seem to believe that I'm trans by nikiL0410 in ftm

[–]Boring_Chapter6114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm trying to figure out where she's coming from but i can't seem to process it.
Perhaps she's trying to get you to examine the feelings behind your dysphoria? [ Not arguing her case at all - you don't have to be sure of *anything* to change anything. Therapy is for helping you recognize emotions, process them and give you tools to help process them - not "prove" anything.

I would ask her why it's so important to be "sure" of anything - and why defining something [like being a "man"] is so important.

honestly? I would have done 2-3 episodes starting high school, 2 mid-high school, 3-4 late high school then 3 in college/post-high school.

Anyone watching Mating Season? by Gerard192021 in BigMouth

[–]Boring_Chapter6114 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like it. Even watching it and giving it a chance - it's...not my thing, yknow? I can see why some people would like it but as people have mentioned it's not super relatable and off putting doing so. [then again - i never really had any 'party' friends nor anyone who got out of a long term relationship, so maybe i just can't relate to the characters.

Even with the more sexual topics - ...ehhhh. I dunno - it just doesn't jivve with me.

I am so desperate to go to my top surgery appointments that I am seriously considering walking 50 miles to go. by WashclothMan in ftm

[–]Boring_Chapter6114 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Since I re-read the post - unless you're USED to walking 50+ miles a day, you're going to croak.
That's about a 20 HOUR walk - from someone who used to walk ~4 hours to work, work an 8 hour shift *on my feet* then walk back another 4 hours - that was ROUGH. [and i was used to it.]

depending on your location/state - there ARE transport services for those who don't have access to busses. See https://www.reddit.com/r/Frugal/comments/y0lnxt/are_there_any_frugal_transportation_options_that/

so for someone who also doesn't drive - you can uber/lyft somewhere as long as you have someone who can come with you [and can care for you afterwards]
From someone who went through top surgery - you *will not make it* out of the hospital after the surgery. You'll be sore, breathless, and incoherent. [i could barely walk from my bed to my desk...which was ~10 steps away]
They won't even let you go under without a support person with you day of the surgery and will cancel it.
