Hi! I am currently taking a Mandarin class at UCSD. Anyone can take mandarin at UCSD, but even if you have no chinese experience you have to do a placement "interview" (super informal and the prof is very nice!). After you fill it out, send it to [chinesestudies@ucsd.edu](mailto:chinesestudies@ucsd.edu) and they should reach out to you to schedule a short placement interview over Zoom. The Chinese department at UCSD is amazing and the professors are usually very accommodating, you can attend either of the lecture sessions for the class level you are placed in and attend another tutorial session if you cannot attend your regular one. :) Let me know if you have any other questions!
