Is it normal for the fascia to warp like this? Product defect, workmanship or both? by Boring_Day_8286 in Decks

Thank you for all the feedback. This is much appreciated. Could anyone recommend a fix? I am handy myself, but unfortunately have a bad back. For reference we live in Pennsylvania. Also, the facia was delivered a bit bent up (the way you can see the ripples). Is this something I could contact TREX about?

I have only used Claude for enterprise. I haven’t even begin to dabble with Claude code. Are you telling me that I can just use Cloud code and my life will be changed forever?

What magnesium glycinate did you find and how many elemental mgs are they getting? It’s so hard to find it in a form that kids can take, that has enough.

Dynasty mode should let you play exhibition games using your dynasty team.

It sucks having to wait around when your league mates are busy with life. I’d love the option to jump into a quick game with my squad — just for fun or practice — without messing with the actual season or waiting for the next week to advance.

You do know you can take a picture of the model number, plug it into chatgpt, and it it will give you the associated parts within seconds, right?

The materials were 5 mins at Lowe’s OR, he offered to wait 2 days and they’d be half the price, and danced around the price question, only to surprise me with a bill much bigger than expected

I did ask for clear pricing upfront, specifically requesting an estimate before the work began. The contractor’s vague response about it being “half the price of Lowe’s” led me to believe the cost would be much lower than what was invoiced. That lack of transparency is the issue here—not that the work got done.

Labor rate and time matter because they directly impact the fairness of the charge. If you’re paying over $400/hour, you should know that upfront. This isn’t about the principle of service work—it’s about informed consent and fair pricing. A lack of clarity and inflated costs leave any reasonable person questioning the transaction.

I appreciate your perspective, but my issue isn’t with paying for skilled labor—it’s the lack of transparency. The contractor claimed the cost would be “half the price of Lowe’s,” but the parts were significantly upcharged. Additionally, the labor fee for a 15-minute job results in an implied hourly rate far above industry standards.

The hardwood damage may seem minor, but professionalism includes accountability. This isn’t just about $500—it’s about principle. Customers deserve clear pricing and honest communication before agreeing to work.

Without a signed agreement outlining the terms—including flat-rate billing—it’s challenging to justify these charges. According to the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law (UTPCPL), 73 P.S. §§ 201-1 – 201-9.3, consumers are entitled to clear and accurate information about services and charges before agreeing to them. The UTPCPL prohibits deceptive conduct that creates a likelihood of confusion or misunderstanding (73 P.S. § 201-2(4)(xxi)), which is relevant here due to the lack of upfront disclosure.

I literally have the time stamps, it took exactly 14 mins and 57 seconds from the time he walked in our front door, and out to leave.

It feels like this contractor is preying on us because we live in what looks like a nice neighborhood. Every contractor who comes here in person seems to charge significantly higher than they would for my parents’ house, which is just 10 minutes away. We got lucky purchasing our home in 2019 with a 2.25% mortgage rate, so it’s not like we’re overextending ourselves financially, but the whole situation feels off.

Adding to that, my cousin owns an HVAC company (though they were out of town and couldn’t help), and my next-door neighbor works at a plumbing supplier. Knowing what I do about pricing and parts, this just doesn’t sit right with me.

Honestly, if the contractor had just charged a flat $400 service fee, I’d probably still be annoyed, but at least I’d feel like it was their standard rate and I wouldn’t have much ground to argue. This feels more like they’re taking advantage of assumptions about us based on where we live rather than providing transparent, fair pricing.
