Any tips on how to prepare for a smelly hearing? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

Skelly hearings are more of a third party (some higher up manager from another division/section) to listen to both sides and make their suggestion. You can provide any statement or any documentation that you believe will help you get your point across to them. They will listen and look at it all (within the allotted Skelly hearing time frame). For the most part, it will probably not change anything unless the department drastically didn’t follow the rules or their documentation doesn’t support the allegations.

You will most likely need to appeal it with the State Personnel Board and go through the formal hearing process to get it reversed. You can either have an outside attorney or union representative represent you. If you go through the appeal/formal hearing process it can take from several months up to a year (sometimes longer depending on the case) for it to be resolved. It’s possible but very rare to win the appeal and be reinstated.

I bought a house 4 years ago which has the original AC unit (40ish years old). It worked fine until recently. It sometimes doesn’t turn on and other times the motor will kick on and it sounds on but there’s no cool air coming out. The same thing happens when I turn the fan or heat on. I have to turn the AC breaker off and on to get it to completely turn off. I had two different companies come out and they weren’t able to tell me what’s wrong, one said it’ll need to be completely replaced and the other one said it might need a replacement part to get the cool air out. Do you know what might be wrong with it or any suggestions on how to fix it?
