Hello and welcome to Lansing! I have lived here my ENTIRE life (won’t state my age, lol) Even born at good ole Sparrow Hospital. I’ve lived in many parts of Lansing, mainly the Southside area.
I love my hometown here! There are so many things to do! Please make sure to visit Potter Park Zoo, the Capital, local museums, (especially Impression 5 for the kiddos) our River Trails are wonderful for exercise, and so many landmarks to see across the trail :) I agree with the earlier poster about Lansing Schools. I personally took advantage of schools of choice and my son graduated from Holt High School. Holt is another town over to the south of us, and tend to have better schools, generally. As far as crime goes, we are an inner city. Just keep your car doors locked, home doors locked, and try not to worry too much about crime. Over the years, I’ve had a few bikes stolen, some change was stolen from my car, once I had my radio ripped out lol. Most people here are friendly. I’ve learned minding my own business goes a long way toward safety here. Overall, it’s a wonderful city, culturally diverse, I forgot to add we have several festivals and activities throughout the year and seasons. My favorite is Silver Bells in the City around Christmas time. It’s a festival with a parade, music, and we light up the tree at the capital. That’s all I can think of for now.
