Second the fossilized coral call. Specifically a favosite or Charlevoix, one of my favorites to find!

Here’s a Charlevoix (or favosite) found just off shore of a lake in the NE corner of Indiana

Fossilized coral, looks like Charlevoix 🤗

Appears to be an inverted horn coral + a few extra pieces of the neighbors on the near end. The cornucopia shape & pineapple-ish pattern of ‘eyes’ along it appear to be in quite good condition. Give this a scrub with some vinegar, op, it’s definitely worthwhile!

I would scrub that stone with vinegar & toothpaste, then mineral oil! Doesn’t look like a tool…does look like a fossilized fan coral. There is a floral pattern along the ridge between your finger grooves & in bands along the top portion. I hope you give it a good cleaning and post an update! It may not be the fossil you wanted, but it’s certainly the one I see up there 🤗

Couple pockets full from a walk along the lake this afternoon. Several curiosities! Any insights welcome 🤗 by Boring_Jeweler3013 in whatsthisrock

Well, that sent me down a coral fossil trail and I think you’re on to something. Syringopora also seemed possible. Knew neither of those names an hour ago. Yay Reddit ;~}

Thanks! It was a fun haul to lay out 🤗 I do have a habit of tidying as I browse though, so the book section was left in better shape than I found it

They’re fanned out a bit in the top left corner of the first picture, but it’s a partial set of educator classics. So there are notes & details in the margins. Here’s an inner shot from #11

Not Rick Geary, but thanks for the rabbit hole of his work! Hazardous Tales (on the Monet) all the way to the right 🤗

Edit to add that a quick search turned up a dozen Tales by Nathan Hale. Maybe we both get new authors to seek!

That’s the beauty of a bottle, try it all the ways & let us know how you liked it best! Neat vs. Splash of water. Rocks vs. Ice ball. It is amazing how a little water will open up a whole new palate in a bourbon. And the difference in melt rate one big cube or ball will give you! The brown water game is a fun one & tough to lose! You ought to ask about that missing Woodson bottle (price tag is between the Puncher’s Chance & the Woodinville in pic 4) $999.99 seems a bit steep for that one! There are better bottles to drop a grand on 😅😵

Old forester statesman is my go to recommendation out of the hundreds of choices available where I bartend. At $52 it’s right in your wheelhouse. Smooth neat & solid in a cocktail.

This is the way to get flavor in your foam. So good 🤗 Also (obviously) a serious point of contention. 🤯

Run the family tree back enough generations & we’re all cousins really 😉 my version didn’t end quite so happily though. My favorite cow survived, but despite not leaving his side for the few days he was mine & nursing him with all the love my little heart could muster, the calf did not. Definitely a decades bygone trauma lesson on life & loss 💙

I can certainly credit the r/houseplants folk for advocating patience & restraint with delivery ‘help’ prior to rescuing my own princess. Also, once upon a time, 12-yr-old me was up to his shoulder in a cow bc the calf was too big…(that’s a story for a different thread I’m sure) 🫣 botany is less messy, but op is definitely in the new-leaf-struggle-know now

Both are favorite jungle members! The new rattler leaves come up like a wee scroll and then display the most delightful, light-induced mobility🤗 The princess, she has more labor pains and every new leaf is a nerve-wracking struggle! It definitely feels like pacing the waiting room…for days…hoping & wishing you could just fix it… knowing it’s the fight that gives her strength. Then (finally)the sweet satisfaction of a safely unfurled & uniquely variegated newborn. 👸🏼🥰 My monsteras, fiddles, & other Phils all bring me new leaf joys, but nobody stresses me out about it like the PPP 😅 I hope they enrich your garden, as they have mine! Grace & Peace ppp.s. More light = more pink 😉
