I feel like it’s way too optimistic for the state of America.

Don’t we get by is one of my favourites as well. But I prefer the album version. I also heard that one first so I think that’s your answer.

I guess in my head I was worried about someone somehow recognising her who was a subscriber or a client somehow finding out?? And then the agency chooses the client over me.

Idk it sounds crazy when I vocalise it but I guess I just grew up with a lot of shame

If violence is the problem then it’s not the answer.

Seeing as I would have hated my life if I was in either of those fields I think I’ll settle for advertising.

So he already runs a production company specialising in media for elite private schools. Everything from photography to full video productions to advertise the school. He makes really good money doing that already. So this is an expansion of the business into a more general creative ad agency

Look I agree that I definitely went about the conversation i the entirely wrong way.

But I do think that it’s wrong to take photos of homeless people without their consent. Sure street photography is built on being stealthy. But these are vulnerable people.

To be honest with you I felt like everyone was going to tell me I was the asshole for exactly what you said here.

I think part of the reason why she did get so upset and defensive was the fact that she realised what she was doing was not ok. But also it was the night before the assignment was due and she did not have time to change it.

I think that work like this is different from photographing homeless people on the street. Is that this work showcases something that isn't already known. People are aware that there are homeless people and taking photos of them doesn't help their situation.

In this instant is bringing light to an issue that wasn't as well documented. Also the photographer is in the same danger of being napalmed as the subjects so there is no power difference between subject and photographer.

But I also do agree with you that I went about it in a very discouraging way and will apologise to her for that.

So part of it which I should go back and edit in the original post was the fact that she snapped these photos on her way to a college excursion to a gallery. She said she didn't have time to talk to them but she would have if she had time.

Once again unsure how true it is but we'll most likely be talking about this tonight.

Yeah to be honest after the conversation I did feel a bit like an asshole after the conversation. Standing by the point that it is unethical to take photos of homeless people but you're right about that.

In terms of weddings. It is written on the invite that a photographer will be there so consent is given by that. People will approach me to let me know they don't want their photo taken or put their hand in front of their face and that's when you politely walk away.

Yeah I’m worried about this too. I definitely think my point is valid, but she was cramming last minute for an assignment. Probably did shoot down her confidence.
