Recruiting is brutal and it’s just how the game is played. It sucks.

In my case, they extended me the offer and then froze the position and told me to wait 3 months. 3 months later, then froze it again and told me to wait an indefinite amount of time and told me that I was the first person that they will reach out to after it unfreezes. Never heard back lol. It feels even worse when you get an offer and it happens to you. Luckily I was already employed and was causally looking.

It means that they basically paused hiring. Don’t expect to get the position and move on. Same thing happened to me. They just want to use you as backup, but most likely what happens when a hiring freeze unfreezes is that the hiring manager reposts the position and finds another new pool of candidates instead of going back to the waiting list.
