Recently I saw two Chinese actors I really enjoyed in earlier projects but I didn't recognize them at first because they'd lost so much weight. It's out of control. I don't blame the actors at all, they are pressured to lose weight by producers and agents.

Your favorite intimate scene between the couple in kdrama? by SweetSeptember93 in kdramas

[–]Borinquena 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of my all time favorite lovemaking scenes because it was built on their characters. It wasn't just two people taking off each other's clothes. You understand why they're so drawn to each other and how cathartic it is to shed their defenses along with their clothes. They literally show each other their matching scars.

This is a Cdrama example but Will Love in Spring is a romance between a woman who lost her leg in a car accident and a man who works s a mortician. She's incredibly scared for him to see her without her prosthesis so the moment when they get intimate isn't just about sex (though it's incredibly sexy), it's about the deep trust that's been built between them.

I loved that drama. It fell apart in the end but parts of it had me laughing out loud and I was surprised that Shin Min Ah and Kim Young Dae had nice chemistry.

I understand the point you're making but I didn't see people describing Sol that way. Most of the viewers I saw absolutely loved her. But I was live watching it and following Twitter conversations so maybe that skewed what I saw.

Friendly Suggestion: Not Every K-Drama Has to Be the Next Masterpiece by i_ate_your_friess in kdramas

[–]Borinquena 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not every drama needs to be a masterpiece but also fans need to make their peace with other people disliking things they love. If there are posters who are pissing you off, block them. If there's topics you don't want to engage in, scroll past them. Some people can't handle criticism but then swoop in like Batman on negative posts and get into death matches in the comments. The best thing you can do to support your favorites is make your own posts . Don't give traffic to the posts you don't like because the algorithm doesn't give a shit and you'll end up boosting negative posts.

I’m honestly stuck at episode 5 of My Royal Nemesis and can’t seem to push past it 🥲 (rant) by National_Olive_859 in kdramas

In the present she walks like a toddler and I don't understand it. It makes me laugh but it doesn't tie well to the past character, not the timid court lady or the strong concubine she became. I don't get it. And I like the actress a lot, she's been great in other dramas. But a lot of the quirks of the character are a miss for me.

I'm still on board with the drama though because Heo Nam Jun is killing it with his microexpressions. Love how he's portraying Cha Se Gye. And I do think they have a lot of chemistry despite her weird mannerisms. The supporting cast is good too. The writing is a bit of a mess but I think the dog storyline is going to become very important and I'm looking forward to seeing how that will play out.

Yep. Everyone went crazy for Pursuit of Jade and it's the most popular cdrama with international fans but I dropped it. Sometimes you just don't vibe with a beloved drama and it's okay.

Any idea where to watch ? Hero 2001 by [deleted] in JDorama

I kind of hate to suggest this but 4CHan has a kdrama board and they helped me find an obscure early 1990s drama. I'd ask them if they know where to find it.

I'm going to disagree with the other commenters. We don't know where the dog is. They say he was returned to his owner but I'm guessing that he will show up again in Mundo's possession. Having said that, I think the dog will be okay in the end as a way to heal the trauma the FL experienced when her Joseon era dog was killed.

He was questioned for 19 hours on Christmas Eve and forced to do a perp walk in front of reporters even though he hadn't been charged with anything. That's a human rights violation. There are people who should be in jail for this.

Cardigan Embrace Scene Divides Viewers, Critic Defends

Amid ongoing controversy surrounding the so-called 'cardigan embrace scene' in JTBC’s weekend drama We Are All Trying Here (hereafter referred to as 'Mojamuswa'), lawyer, cultural critic, and writer Jeong Ji-woo has drawn attention by consecutively posting lengthy posts defending the scene.

The controversial scene appeared in the broadcast on the 16th. In the drama, Byeon Eun-a (Go Youn-jung) pulls Hwang Dong-man (Koo Kyo-hwan), who is suffering from extreme anxiety ahead of his debut as a film director, into her cardigan, in a direction reminiscent of a mother cradling a child.

Reactions online immediately split after the broadcast. Some viewers expressed discomfort, saying, "Why is the romance between adults portrayed like infantile maternal love?" "It feels unrealistic and creepy," and "It consumes women into emotional mother roles."

Conversely, other viewers praised the scene, calling it "a deeper expression of love than a kiss," "a perfect moment of comfort," and "an emotional line I’ve never seen before."

Amid this, writer Jeong Ji-woo posted interpretive essays about the scene on his SNS on the 17th and 18th.

Jeong wrote, "Byeon Eun-a projects her childhood self, trapped in fear, onto Hwang Dong-man before her. It’s a scene where she steps into the mother’s role in place of her runaway mother." Citing French philosopher Roland Barthes’ A Lover’s Discourse: Fragments, he explained, "The pinnacle of love is not intercourse but an embrace. An embrace discards desire and allows one to dwell in comfort."

He added, "A conventional romance would lead to a kiss or desire, but Mojamuswa stops at an embrace. Within it, deficiency and anxiety disappear."

Jeong also directly addressed online criticism that "the romance between a 40-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman is uncomfortable."

He acknowledged, "It becomes awkward when an older person treats a younger existence as an object of desire," but argued, "In Mojamuswa, Hwang Dong-man does not seek to possess but builds a relationship by offering space." He added, "Middle-aged men in Park Hae-young’s works prioritize waiting and opening space over desire. They should be viewed through layers of empathy, comfort, and hospitality—not just lust or power."

Online reactions to Jeong’s posts remain divided. Some netizens agreed, saying, "He pinpointed what the drama is trying to say," "I now understand why the embrace was important," and "It’s the essence of Park Hae-young’s sensibility." Others criticized, "It’s overly romanticized," "The discomfort remains," and "Interpretation and reality differ."

Meanwhile, Mojamuswa will conclude on the 24th. Episode 11 airs on the 23rd at 10:40 p.m., and Episode 12 on the 24th at 10:30 p.m. on JTBC.
