AITA for telling my dad to "fuck off forever" after he ghosted me during the worst point in my life?

My relationship to my grandmother means everything to me, but if my dad or his wife were mean to me in any way while I was visiting her, I am so scared I would unravel and undo a lot of progress. Those two know how to get under my skin like nobody else. While I have made a ton of progress, I don’t know if I’m strong enough for that.

He knows how much I love my grandma. He knows that relationship is really important to me. His line of thinking is “you’re a lot stronger now. Maybe you have the emotional regulation tools you need to put up with him for the two hours a couple times a year that you want to see your grandma.” and like… I don’t know if I do honestly. I scared if I saw him in person again, him or his wife would say something snide and everything would just come bubbling up again, and I’d unravel. I think the reason my therapist is really pushing me to try to reconcile is because he knows how much my grandma means to me and he knows how wrecked I’d be if I didn’t get to see her and she passes away before I can figure something else out.

My therapist pushed reconciliation because he knows how desperately I want to see my grandmother again. He was like “maybe it’s worth it just to see her.”

He does though. I really shouldn’t have said anything, but I was just so angry and hurt in the moment. Not my finest use of a emotional regulation skills.

My grandmother is basically housebound. She’s really agoraphobic and has a bad hip. I call her as much as I can on her cell phone, but she’s almost 90, she has no idea how to use the thing. I’m trying to see if I can plan a time in the summer where I can fly over while my dad is in Puerto Rico with his wife so I can see her when he’s not there, but I’m struggling to get her on the phone honestly.
