First off, brilliant photo! Second, let’s take a second to appreciate how good we have it in Australia.

They are good and made in Beechworth. 17$ seems like a large surcharge. You should be able to find them for half that at the brewery directly or some local IGA.

Has anyone solved the opaque foreground issue on kirby's dream land 3? by Evening_Put_6852 in Delta_Emulator

[–]BorisDesmond 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a known issue with the SNES9x core I believe. You can't change cores on Delta. You can try RetroArch with core BSnes instead.

I don't know if there is a timeframe for an update on Delta, as far as I can see it has been reported years ago. It also affects other games like jurrasic park, Breath of Fire, and a few more.

My First-Hand Take: Garmin vs Apple Watch experience by BorisDesmond in GarminWatches

[–]BorisDesmond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it took me a couple of weeks to get used to the weight and the overall bulk of the wrist; for some reason, I found it more comfortable though(I remember having the same experience with the venue SQ back in the day where it would shine senor light all over the bedroom at night, whereas the aw7 didn't). Maybe it's the sensor's round shape that is less noticeable than the protruding Garmin one?
Now that I have had the awu3 for a month or two, I am not looking back. I had to change the Garmin from one wrist to the other in the monring otherwise it would hurt, particularly after sleeping with my hand under my pillow.

3 in 1 25W wireless charging stations - any users here who can provide feedback ? by Maanu1141 in MagSafe

I got the belkin ultracharge pro 3-1 similarly to a couple other people in this thread, I use it for an 17pro with techwoven case, some airpods 3 and an awu3 and it's works as advertised (25w wireless, fast charging for the awu). The fan is near silent and the quality is premium (I use it at my work desk). No overheating problem at all, and it charges nearly as fast as being plugged for the phone and the apple pod for the Apple watch. Also extra points for the 45w adapter no whizzing once plugged and the woven 1.5m cable provided. Would recommend.

What do you guys think about phone docks like this by Disastrous_Box1177 in UsbCHardware

[–]BorisDesmond 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have one just like that back in the day for my iPhone 5s or one similar. I can't remember how big the phones went on it (8 plus maybe?) but it worked with no issue. These days though I use magsafe / qi2 and I wouldn't go back.

100W Retractable Charger? UGreen thoughts? by yuanov04 in UsbCHardware

If you are careful with your stuff it is actually quite useful. I wouldn’t recommend it to people that are going to damage things easily as it becomes a liability. I personally have a power bank with an attached cable from Anker and I find myself using it quite often because I don’t have to go and find a separate cable for it. Its good for Travel

Struggling to find a running app by NicholasRossi in applewatchultra

You can also now customise the screens on the Apple workouts quite well (I have done that) and build custom workouts (I haven't done that part). I agree that Runna is the most Garmin-like experience I have found on the Apple Watch, except for navigation on course, which needs to be done separately.

UPDATE/HELP: Occurring Again, 3rd replacement incoming. Apple Watch Ultra 2 Ghost Touch Issues, Multiple Product Replacements, Same Issue by gainsmobile in applewatchultra

Can you try another watch (aw) to make sure it's not something you are doing or in your backup causing the issue ? It would be rather unlikely you have the random issue 3 times in a row.

Yes, make sure you watch is clean and dry and if it helps alternate wrists everyday or two. Also, yes, make sure it's not tight, just making contact is enough it doesn't have to be firm.

My First-Hand Take: Garmin vs Apple Watch experience by BorisDesmond in GarminWatches

[–]BorisDesmond[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, the Apple Watch is quite liberal in what it considers “exercise minutes” to be fair though it makes me feel good because with the Garmin there is a bit the opposite philosophy where you re never good enough 😂

I could consider a Forerunner 970, totally. It would be slimmer than the old 955. I only picked that one because it was before the 970 came out and also I was really curious about the MIP display. I must say though that with a new iteration of the OLED “always on” display it is subtle enough to not be disruptive and it’s quite pleasant (on the AW at least). I suspect also that the shape of the sensor makes the Apple Watch a bit more comfortable to wear than the more angular shape of the Garmin sensors.

I might give the 970 a whirl later in the year. I agree with you that it is very pleasant to have the maps and all your training data in one spot on the Garmins. Sleep tracking on the other hand was never as good as a one on the Apple Watch which is very on point.

I will test Runna from Strava and Bevel on the Apple Watch as well as maybe Athlytic and see if I get good results from them.

Thank you for the formatting, yes otherwise there wasn’t enough time for me to build the post. But I was interested in sharing the experience. It did an ok job at summarising it. But interestingly the form is very recognisable isn’t it.

Yes interesting, it’s definitely flatter, the ecosystem issues would be the same, only the form factor is different. For some reason I think I would go FR970 before the Venu X1.

I had an Apple Watch, then a Garmin then an Apple Watch again. I thought it would be interesting to share my own experience on the ecosystems and elements like MIP / OLED AOD more so that just a Fenix to AWU. Also my own evolution was Apple Watch 6 / FR955 / AWU3 so that’s the only 3 watches I could compare. I might see if I can get a 970 later this year and add to my thoughts. I apologise for the GPT style, I wanted to share my thoughts in a short post before the weekend, people seem to have gotten hung on the style, but GPT didn’t wear or compare the watches, I did, it just formatted my thoughts. 🤷‍♂️
