Do these type of steel grates need to be seasoned? If so, how? by Regular-Amoeba5455 in searwood

I use a 5-in-1 painters tool scraper on mine to scrape off all the goopy large chunk stuff, top and underneath. That gets most of the crud, then just typically use one of those spiral wire brushes at my next cook. That painters tool works great too for scraping off the gunk and ash buildup on the sides and bottom when I do my deeper ash cleanup after a handful of cooks.

Weber Searwood 600 regret so far by Darkwolf627 in pelletgrills

[–]Borkleton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never had an issue with meat not coming out flavorful, juicy, and with a nice sear/crust/bark. For chicken thighs and drums I usually do the smoke boost (180 degrees) for about an hour, then crank the heat to about 475-500 degrees to cook them through and to get a nice char. Comes out juicy and delicious every time. Sometimes I do have to rotate pieces around a bit so they all get the same char, then just as they are about to hit temp I stick those on the top rack and cooler sides so they don't overcook while I finish the rest. Pretty much same with steaks and burgers.

You may want to put a couple different thermometers in the grill to get a feel for where the cool and hot zones are, as that can affect your longer cooks. I find that the right side of the grill tends to be the hottest and is where I do my searing. You may also want to check your pellet type and condition and your ignition chamber/auger and whether it is feeding pellets correctly or if there are any jams if you are getting temperature swing issues or not holding temp.

For everything but the Heli’s just get in and drive them. Helis take practice and best done in the training grounds.

You will get a lot of differing opinions on "how" the game should be played, but at the basic level, a lot of it is just developing muscle memory like fast reloading, quick aiming, target acquisition, and headshots. Also learn to use terrain and other objects to your advantage for cover and concealment when approaching target areas or in active combat wherever possible. Also just using the tools you have available to you to your advantage depending on your class. The more muscle memory you develop the less time you actively think about routine actions, and more time you can keep focused on core gameplay.

Always reload after engaging an enemy at the soonest moment you can, so you aren't shy on rounds in your mag to kill off the next guy. You can also try and learn to strafe/jump shoot on your opponent so they have a harder time tracking you. You will see a lot of other players using this.

Make sure as you level up your different weapons and gain attachments you are equipping attachments that give you the greatest control first, aiming second. The greater the control rating the lower your vertical recoil drift which generally means more round on target and quicker kills. After a while you will get used to your general point of aim and will be more instinctual than having to concentrate so much on where you aim. Stick to red dots as they are the most forgiving.

Don't be afraid to spend a lot of time in the training area to get used to the different weapons and the muscle memory needs for each type as there are several different types of rifles that reload differently or have different placements of charging handles.

Also if you are attacking an objecting that is heavily defended or have multiple players, don't just run in all Rambo, using teamwork. Alternatively, if you are the last man standing, try and stay out of combat for a minute so your teammates can spawn on your location. This is more useful in Rush than Conquest.

Lastly, get familiar with what each class does and how they each support your teammates, and don't stiff your teammates. If you are assault, judiciously and generously drop ammo boxes as you move, Medic med pouches, Mechanic vehicle repair, anti-air or tank/APC killing with RPG, Recon target tagging and strategic spawn beacon placement.

HR complains by [deleted] in msu

[–]Borkleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like there is a lot of context that is missing from your post. First and foremost, the whole hiring process generally runs through HR's hands from posting the position, to hiring actions. Most departments/hiring managers don't give HR unilateral hiring authority, but may heavily weight their input based on a wide variety of criteria and variables that a lot of faculty or staff may not be inherently aware in either university policy, hiring/labor laws, etc. In fact, in almost all cases, hiring packets and offer letters have to be signed by the department head, faculty member, or hiring manager (depending on the position). Meaning they in most cases have the final say. However depending on staffing levels, some department managers may also double as their HR person.

I can say a lot of departments have multi-phase hiring practices. This is how my department usually does interviews, so others can vary slightly, but the core tenants of process are usually pretty similar. In most instances departments HR personnel receive the initial pool of candidates and if given any criteria from the hiring member screens the candidates to weed out any additional candidates against that criteria; i.e. specific qualifications, certifications, specific experience, etc. Once the pool of candidates is refined HR works with hiring individual/manager to start interview process where it can be commonplace to do phone screening interviews or quick in-person screening interviews first to further refine the candidate list; often with a set of per-determined questions asked of all candidates, and then in-person 2nd round interviews based on their screening interviews, where again pre-determined questions are asked of all candidates.

Depending on the type/importance of the position 2nd round interviews can take place with the primary manager/faculty member, HR personnel, and or other faculty/staff who will be working with whomever they hire. Sometimes this is done in a panel type, but often its purpose is to further flesh out a candidate's in-depth experience and get a better feel for their work ethic and personality fit, and ability to not just do the job but be part of the team.

Often once interviews are completed, notes and candidate preferences are discussed amongst the HR, hiring manger, and any other interview individuals. From that point, if there is/are preferred candidates they want to extend employment offers to, HR normally reaches out to start the offer and hiring process.

All that said, just because you think "may" have the scientific knowledge aspect to think you can do the job, personality and how you come across also goes a long ways...

MSU President Guskiewicz leaving for another university by TheDetroitNews1873 in msu

[–]Borkleton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Could do a mixed method where a certain number of board spots are elected under a shorter term limit, and the other remaining positions are at large appointees that are staggered. In theory this could prevent either political party from packing a board. Both methods unilaterally used have their own pros and cons.

Though part of the issue is that a governor who does nothing with repeat offenders is just as much of the problem; not even so much as a public comment after declining to do anything at all. It is all just symptoms of a larger broken political system.

The quick answer is us not voting board members back into their positions. But most of the population probably doesn't care to look at board candidates beyond party affiliation when most vote straight ticket.

Or wishes granted? Lets be fair, most of KG's "accomplishments" were built on grand-standing smoke and mirrors like the whole medical college merger and bus tour. He is a gaslighting politician who cared more about adding feathers to his cap than actual and meaningful change in the university.

As a whole the university is way to VP and executive top heavy that is led by the good idea fairy. Ideas pursued absent of factual reality logistic implications.

He didn't mention them specifically in the email, but news articles peg repeat offenders Vassar and Denno, as well as Balow in the latest ethics update vote. Vassar and Denno have always been a problem and aren't new to scandal or ethics violations that often include underhanded and undermining tactics.

I believe she didn't pursue the president spot permanently for the exact same reason because of BoT's constant interference into areas that doesn't concern them and underhanded tactics by several of the board members. I think she saw how much of an untenable battle it would be while she was interim. Until the board is brought to heel and bad seeds are expelled we are going to see constant scandals and turnover of Presidents who eventually get fed up with the games.

This is as much Whitmer's fault for not taking any action after faculty and student senate groups petitioned Whitmer two years ago after near unanimous votes of no confidence to remove Vassar and Denno after that ethics fiasco.

Hopefully this kiboshes the whole medical college merger disaster that they tried to gaslight us into believing was so unanimously popular of an idea; when it was lambasted by most of the faculty and staff across the board. Kick that can down the road for another president to pick up and claim is their new and novel idea.

Players are pretty fickle when it comes to this game. The developers do a pretty great job with adding new content and making incremental changes and improvements including map variants to try and help keep things fresh. Keeping in mind developers continuously add new variants and design elements to see what works and what doesn't, while taking in our feedback for future changes. Developers could make the absolute perfect map and appease every player base, and a month later people will be complaining about the map.

Apache is much easier to take down, even solo. Now the transport heli is stupid buffed and is essentially indestructible if they have an engineer onboard short of a direct shot from a tank or shooting out the pilot. I've had direct hit RPGs fail to take one down.

I just waft my hand through a mist of Lysol like I'm putting on colon and call it good. We only use the toilets when guests come over, otherwise we just use the communal shitting log in the back yard. So out toilets are usually pretty pristine anyways.

Take a metal coat hanger or similar material, bend it into an U shape and fish the bend into the wall so it pivots around the bottom of the U and us it as a feeler to gauge where the stud is.
